Cruise activity returns to Astoria this weekend with the arrival of The World!

The World is expected to arrive on Sunday, June 14, at 9:15 AM, arriving from California. The residential yacht will remain in port overnight before departing on Monday, June 15, at 8:00 PM.

Fun Fact: The World is widely recognized as the world's only privately owned residential yacht. Rather than booking cruises, residents own their homes onboard and help shape the ship's future itineraries and destinations, making each voyage a reflection of the interests of those who call the vessel home.

The World's overnight stay will be the final cruise ship call before our fall cruise season begins in August with the arrival of the Crystal Symphony.

The Port of Astoria is proud to welcome the USNS Watkins.

Fun Fact: Stretching nearly 951 feet in length, the USNS Watkins is longer than three football fields and can carry more than 900 vehicles and approximately 393,000 square feet of cargo, making it one of the largest vehicle cargo ships operated by the U.S. military.

Ship enthusiasts may want to keep their cameras ready! Increased vessel traffic is expected around June 8th following the Fleet Week festivities in Portland, as visiting military and support vessels make their return voyage down the Columbia River.

On May 28, Port staff observed an oil sheen originating from beneath Pier 2 and notified the U.S. Coast Guard and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. Working alongside our team and our contracted response organization, agencies quickly established a unified response effort to assess the source, contain the release, and protect public and environmental safety.

Response crews deployed approximately 2,600 feet of containment boom around the pier, while dive teams worked to identify the source of the release. Investigations determined the oil originated from a previously undocumented legacy fueling pipeline system beneath the pier containing residual bunker oil. Divers successfully disconnected the submerged section of pipeline from the pier, capped it, and plugged the pier-side section to prevent any further release. No additional discharge was observed during these operations.

Cleanup operations continue beneath and around the pier, with shoreline assessment teams surveying affected areas and recovering impacted material. Due to tidal conditions, much of this work must be conducted during limited operational windows. Response teams remain on scene to monitor conditions, assess for any secondary releases from the remaining legacy piping infrastructure, and continue cleanup efforts.

The response is being conducted in close coordination with the US Coast Guard, NOAA, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. These agencies, and the Port, remain committed to minimizing environmental impacts while reducing disruptions to Port operations and local fishing activities.

The Port Administration Office will be closed on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day.

The Marina Office and Fuel dock will maintain regular business hours.
The Warrenton-Astoria Regional Airport will be open with on-call staff.
The Boatyard will be unstaffed.

The Island Princess has arrived in Astoria! The ship is scheduled to depart at 5:00 PM this evening following its visit along the waterfront as it continues on to Victoria, BC.

The Island Princess marks the final cruise ship call of May before cruise activity resumes in June with the arrival of The World for a special overnight stay scheduled for June 14–15.

The Coral Princess has arrived in Astoria! The ship is scheduled to depart at 5:00 PM following its visit along the waterfront as it continues its Pacific Coastal voyage toward Santa Barbara, CA.

As a reminder, the Island Princess is expected to arrive Monday at 9:00 AM as cruise activity continues into the week.

The Brilliant Lady has arrived in Astoria! The ship is scheduled to depart at 7:00 PM for Victoria, BC following its visit along the waterfront.

As a reminder, the Coral Princess is expected to arrive Sunday at 7:00 AM, followed by the Island Princess on Monday at 9:00 AM as cruise activity continues into the weekend and early next week.

May continues with another trio of cruise ships arriving on Friday, May 8; Sunday, May 10; and Monday, May 11.

The Brilliant Lady is expected to arrive on Friday at 7:30 AM, sailing from San Francisco, CA.
Fun Fact: The Brilliant Lady is Virgin Voyages’ newest ship, entering service in 2025 as the fourth and final vessel in its fleet.

The Coral Princess is expected to arrive on Sunday at 7:00 AM, arriving from Seattle, WA.
Fun Fact: The Coral Princess is one of only two ships in its class, designed to be large enough for amenities but small enough to transit the Panama Canal.

The Island Princess is expected to arrive on Monday at 9:00 AM, sailing from San Francisco, CA.
Fun Fact: The Island Princess is the sister ship to the Coral Princess and shares the same unique Panama Canal–ready design, making it one of the more versatile ships in the fleet.
