With severe weather on the way where do you get emergency information? Is it your phone? Local TV and Radio? Web or Social Media? It's important with the severe weather forecast to have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts.⛈️🌪️

Severe weather continues to be expected this afternoon and evening. All severe hazards (large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes) will be possible. However, large hail will be the primary threat during initial stages of storm development, with damaging winds becoming more likely as storms congeal into lines or clusters. Isolated tornadoes are also possible, especially if storms remain discrete. Stay weather aware today!

Storms are expected to develop between 1-3 PM across the area and grow into a line as they move east-southeast this afternoon. At least a few storms are likely to be severe and produce large hail, damaging winds, and potentially a tornado or two. Stay weather aware today and have multiple ways to receive warnings!

With the much needed rain, Atchison County is no longer in a burn ban. Please use caution when burning.

Line of thunderstorms will develop along the cold front as it moves into the region from west to east. Damaging winds (>60 mph) will be the primary hazard. Hail Risk (golf ball size) greatest with any isolated storms. Tornado Risk with isolated storms and risk of spin ups embedded in the line. Brief, heavy downpours are possible which may aggravate ongoing flooding.

Northeast Kansas is forecast for EXTREME fire danger this afternoon- gusty winds, very low humidity, and dry conditions will cause fires to quickly ignite, spread, and be difficult to extinguish! Our agency is coordinating closely with our partners, the Kansas Forest Service and Kansas Division of Emergency Management to provide state support if requested.

There is high fire risk because of elevated fire weather conditions for today through Tuesday, with most of the state under a Red Flag Warning! If you spot a fire, report it immediately!
