Hello Benedictine College Republicans,

On behalf of our Exec Board, I want to extend a warm welcome to our new members as well as our returning members for this 2021-2022 school year.

First and foremost, I wanted to let everyone know about an extremely rare and unique opportunity. On Thursday, September 16, the National Chair of the National Republican Committee, Ronna McDaniel, will be in Atchison for a breakfast. The Chair of the Republican Party has never been to Atchison, so we really want to have a strong Benedictine presence. The event will be completely free for any Benedictine student, so feel free to invite your friends! The breakfast will be in the upper floor at Jerry's Again Restaurant, from 8:30-10am. ​Please let me know ASAP If you would like to come so we can reserve you a seat!

Secondly, our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 15th, at 8pm in the Legacy Classroom. At this meeting we will make introductions and discuss our plans for re-energizing the campus for the upcoming year. We will also go over background information on Mrs. McDaniel and generally try to coordinate for the breakfast.

We are extremely excited to have a strong presence on campus once again!

What has happened today is nothing short of absolutely disgraceful in every single sense of the word. These actions, these acts of derangement by people who cannot accept the results of a valid election are pathetic, worthy of the lowest common denominator of people, not of the greatest country on earth.

Our country is failing its duty to serve as a beacon of freedom for the rest of the world and the consequence of this failure cannot be understated. The time has passed to say "We are better than this" or "This is not who we are", it is very clear that this is who we have chosen to be, each and every single one of us.

Congress has a sacred duty to ensure that there is a peaceful transition of power, from one President to the next. Interfering in this duty, as these rioters did, is so repugnant to the sacredness of the process that it should make anyone who calls themselves a constitutional conservative shudder. These riots, causing Congress to have to flee the capital for the first time since 1812, are in no way justified and in no way justifiable. Nothing about them is. And those who try to, or try to are actively participating in the degradation of American democracy. It is a shame.

R.I.P. to Justice Ginsburg. No matter what you may think of her as a Justice is it indisputable that she gave her life admirably for the sake of public service. May her memory forever be a blessing and let our thoughts and prayers be with her family during this difficult time for them.

The second woman appointed to the Supreme Court, Justice Ginsburg’s pointed and powerful dissenting opinions earned her late-life rock stardom.
