On August 14, 2026, the Waterford Township Police Department was notified of an incident at Waterford Elementary School. It was reported that a school employee had allegedly placed a cell phone inside a faculty restroom in an attempt to record individuals without their knowledge or consent.

During their investigation, Waterford Township police officers identified Skyler Moore, 20, of Clementon, as a suspect. Moore was taken into custody and charged with two counts of 3rd-degree Invasion of Privacy and one count of 4th-degree Tampering with Evidence.

A forensic examination of the cell phone did not reveal any content containing any students or juveniles.

All individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

During this period, motorists can expect increased enforcement efforts aimed at identifying and removing impaired drivers from our roadways.

Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment

(Waterford Township / Camden County, NJ) A team of assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) on Monday, August 31, 2026, will examine all aspects of the Waterford Township Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services Chief Daniel Cormaney announced today.

“Verification by the team that the Waterford Township Police Department meets the Commission’s “best practice” standards is part of a voluntary process to achieve accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence”, Chief Cormaney said.

As part of this final on-site assessment, employees and members of the general public are invited to provide comments to the assessment team. They may do so by telephone or email. The public may call 856-767-2139 on Monday, August 31, 2026, between the hours of 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Email comments can be sent to [email protected].

Telephone comments are limited to 5 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the NJSACOP standards. Please contact Captain Timothy Lyons at 856-767-2134 x203 for information about the standards.

Anyone wishing to offer written comments about the Waterford Township Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation is requested to email the Accreditation Program Director at [email protected] or write the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission at 751 Route 73 North, Suite 12 Marlton, N.J. 08053.

The Waterford Township Police Department must comply with NJSACOP LEAP standards in order to achieve accredited status. Chief Cormaney indicated, “Accreditation results in greater accountability within the agency, reduced risk and liability exposure, stronger defense against civil lawsuits, increased community advocacy, and more confidence in the agency’s ability to operate efficiently and respond to community needs.”

The Accreditation Program Director for the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police is Mr. Harry J Delgado, Ed.S. “The assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar New Jersey law enforcement agencies. The assessors will review written materials, interview agency members, and visit offices and other places where compliance with the standards can be observed. Once the Commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they will report to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to be granted accredited status”, Harry J Delgado stated.

Accreditation is valid for a three-year period during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting to their continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.

PRESS RELEASE – AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST

On August 11, 2026, at approximately 4:16 p.m., officers from the Waterford Township Police Department responded to the area of Front Street and Cooper Road for a reported fight and disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who had been sprayed with bear spray. A female victim who had also been sprayed was located nearby.

Officers received information that the suspect may have been hiding behind a residence on the 2100 block of Cooper Road. Officers initiated a K-9 track to locate the suspect. Witnesses subsequently reported that the suspect may have concealed himself beneath the deck of a nearby residence.

Waterford Township officers located the suspect, identified as David Walker, hiding beneath the deck. Walker was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation determined that Walker and the victims were known to one another and that an argument occurred in a wooded area near C.W. Haines Boulevard. The dispute reportedly stemmed from a previous incident that occurred several months earlier in Atlantic County.

Walker was charged with:

Aggravated assault
Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
Unlawful possession of a weapon
Criminal trespass

Walker was also found to have an active warrant. He was processed and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.

There was no threat to the public at any time.

All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Update the White Horse Pike is open.

Due to a technical issue with the traffic signal at the intersection of White Horse Pike and Bartram Avenue, the following road closures are in effect until further notice:

• Bartram Avenue is closed between Carl Hasselhan Drive and White Horse Pike.
• Cooper Folly Road is closed between Hayes Mill Road and White Horse Pike.

Please use alternate routes and expect delays in the area. We appreciate your patience and cooperation while the issue is being addressed.
