From Autumn Brown - Candidate Athens County Commissioner.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Athens Farmers Market and our booth to chat with me about Athens County and what you see are future needs for our county. The outpouring of support is so appreciated. I also left with amazing spinach artichoke bread, some plants, fresh veggies, after being serenaded by fun live music all morning. Our farmers market is a great example of Athens County Strong.

The Republican trickle down theory is bunk. Research shows that the best way to improve the economy is paying workers good wages. Watch this billionaire explain and advocate for higher wages for workers as he has done for decades.

This Sunday 4-6pm. A great opportunity to meet the wonderful candidates for Washington County Commissioner, as well as hear from me and from Frances Strickland, former first lady of Ohio. Lots of social time involved, so bring friends, ok?

Please share, email, text, whatever you can do to help us attract people to this particular fundraiser.

Yes, our campaign (like the campaigns of the two County Commissioner candidates) needs donations.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in defense of our nation, along with the families who carry their loss.

Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and we hold their memory close with deep gratitude.

Losing Stephen Colbert because of Trump’s sensitivity to criticism even from comedians shows that Republicans are suppressing free speech. Vote Blue!

It’s almost lights out at “The Late Show,” as Stephen Colbert gets ready to say goodbye this week, and he may not be the last. CBS’s cancelation of “The Late Show,” first launched…

Republicans are trying to do this. Deregulate health protection regulations! For the GOP, corporate profits and billionaire wealth is their priority. Not us. Vote Blue.

If finalized, the proposal would end the Biden-era restrictions for four toxic PFAS compounds and give utilities two more years to comply with limits on two other compounds.

We must stop Ohio Republican legislators from harming our parks and allowing the fossil fuel industry to extract from public land. Check this out and act today!

Here’s a call to action from Save Ohio Parks. They need volunteers to make call to Ohio legislators today and tomorrow (5/18 & 5/19). You can copy and paste the links into your browser.

Three bad bills are moving through the Ohio Statehouse right now. And if we don't show up this week, they're going to pass.

Save Ohio Parks is hosting two phone bank sessions on Monday and Tuesday to reach the offices of legislators.

Monday, May 18 - 3:00-4:00 PM EDT
Register: https://actionnetwork.org/events/phone-bank-for-ohio-parks-and-public-lands-2/

Tuesday, May 19 - 3:00-4:00 PM EDT
Register: https://actionnetwork.org/events/phone-bank-for-ohio-parks-and-public-lands-3/

Here's what we're fighting:

HB 170 would create a framework for carbon capture and underground CO2 storage in Ohio. It strips landowner rights, lets developers off the hook for long-term liability, and sticks taxpayers with decades of monitoring and cleanup costs. It passed the House. Now it's in the Senate.

SB 294 would direct the Ohio Power Siting Board to shut out solar and wind energy while boosting oil, gas, and nuclear. It's sitting in the Senate Energy Committee right now.

SB 219 would fast-track fracking on Ohio's state parks and public lands and hand a long list of favors to the oil and gas industry. It already passed the Senate. The House Natural Resources Committee is the last stop.

When you join, we give you phone numbers, a short script, and talking points for each bill. You hop on Zoom, go on mute, and make your calls at your own pace. Most people are done in under an hour.

Committee members pay attention when constituents call. A few dozen calls this week can genuinely move the needle. We need you there.
