We are committed to building, promoting, and nourishing a Culture of Literacy across all of Athens-Clarke County because everyone — every parent and guardian, every educator, every community partner, every organization, every neighbor, every advocate — has a role in helping our children, our future, thrive.

Tune in on YouTube from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, for "Culture of Literacy: The Next Chapter" to learn more about our plans for literacy in the 2026-27 school year and beyond under Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Scott's leadership and how you fit into that work. We’ll also take a look at our literacy data and hear from experts with the Get Georgia Reading Campaign, as we look to move the needle on improving early literacy rates in Clarke County.

WEST BROAD SCHOOL PROJECT UPDATE: CCSD invites the Athens-Clarke County community to participate in a public design charrette for the West Broad School Complex revitalization project on Tuesday, March 31, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Vernon Payne Meeting Hall at the District Office, 595 Prince Avenue, Athens. It’s official!

NEWS: At its meeting tonight, the Clarke County Board of Education officially approved the appointment of Dr. Jennifer Scott as Interim Superintendent, effective July 1, for the 2025-26 school year. Over the next year, the Board will conduct a rigorous search to fill the Superintendent position on a permanent basis. More information about the search process will be shared as it becomes available.
