Sad news for our school district. So grateful for Dr. Ho**er’s time with us.

“During a called meeting of the Clarke County Board of Education on Monday, March 31, Clarke County School District Superintendent Dr. Robbie Ho**er shared with the board his decision to retire as Superintendent, effective June 30, 2025.

In his message to CCSD staff, Dr. Ho**er said, “Serving alongside you has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Each of you—through your passion, dedication, and tireless efforts—has made this district stronger. Together, we have faced challenges, celebrated successes, and, most importantly, made a difference in the lives of countless students.”

During his tenure, which began in October 2022, Dr. Ho**er has led many successful initiatives starting with leading the development and implementation of a 5-year Strategic Plan focused on three key areas: Thriving Students, Connected Culture, and Optimized Talent. As part of that work, Dr. Ho**er has led the charge well ahead of state mandates in shifting the district’s approach to reading toward one based on science and research, which has resulted in increasing the number of CCSD students who are proficient in reading at the end of third grade.

Under Dr. Ho**er’s leadership, the district’s Climate Survey ratings and CCRPI rankings have increased significantly, and new partnerships were formed to support youth sports through the creation of the district’s Youth Development Initiative and AdaptedED sports programs. Dr. Ho**er has also focused on enhancing the well-being, health, and academic success of all students by providing accessible, comprehensive, and high-quality healthcare services directly within the school environment through the addition of three school-based Health Centers, bringing the number to four SBHCs in total across the district. He also has helped increase mental health resources and expand counseling services in an effort to prioritize student well-being across all schools.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to express my gratitude for Dr. Ho**er’s leadership. His focus on maintaining high expectations for all students and his commitment to providing both resources and support for our teachers and staff has been instrumental in moving CCSD forward,” said BOE President Dr. Mumbi Anderson. “As we plan for Dr. Ho**er’s departure, we will continue building on the strong foundation he has laid to ensure a smooth transition for our students, educators, and families. Thank you, Dr. Ho**er, for your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to the Clarke County School District.”

In his remaining months, Dr. Ho**er will focus on assisting the district through this leadership transition and preparing for the 2025-26 school year.

Further details on the Superintendent search process will be discussed by the board at its April 17 meeting during executive session.”

CLEAN AUDIT: CCSD Chief Financial Officer Chris Griner submitted the independent financial audit of the district for Fiscal Year 2024 to the Board of Education this past week and reported that the district had no findings and received an unqualified opinion on its financial statements, which is the highest opinion you can receive. Great job by our Business Services Division for ensuring that we are in a strong position with accurate and transparent financial records!
