We are taking storytime outside (again)! Join Miss Erika and friends at Dudley Park's Flower Amphitheater for our outdoor storytime at 10 am every Friday morning during the month of September. Bring children five and under to enjoy stories, songs, scarves, and instruments with new (and old) friends. This program is in partnership with Athens-Clarke County Trails and Open Space.

Every summer we surprise our campers with a famous book character visit! This year the Hungry Caterpillar came to our library! We read Eric Carle's classic story, 'The Hungry Caterpillar', made butterfly and caterpillar crafts, then we took pictures with our special guest.

Storytelling is a skill. This summer Jerry White told us stories through music and Damon Young told us stories through shadows. The library is full of stories for everybody all year round! Stop by our library to find a story that speaks to you.

Although the kids have been back at school for a few weeks now we are still thinking about what an amazing summer we had this year! Our most popular program in Teen camp was a local artist teaching a lettering and spray paint workshop.

All Athens Regional Libraries will be closed Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day. However, you can place holds on items for future pick-up through PINES and our digital collection is always available for your convenience, via Libby, hoopla and the Palace Project! We will resume regular operating hours the following day, Tuesday, May 26th.

First, the bad news: we're sorry to announce that access to hoopla for Athens Regional Library System patrons will end on June 30, 2026. While we appreciate the value hoopla brings to our digital collections, the platform's pricing and lending model options have become unsustainable for the library's budget. We appreciate your understanding!
And now, the GREAT news: Kanopy is coming July 1, 2026! You'll be able to enjoy instant access to thousands of critically-acclaimed movies, inspiring documentaries, award-winning foreign films, and more from studios like A24, the BBC, The Criterion Collection, and PBS. Check back for more information on how to start streaming with your library card!

April 22nd is National Library Outreach Day! A common comment we get while tabling or programming throughout town is "Oh my goodness, you're like...EVERYWHERE!". We love spreading library joy throughout our town! What is your favorite surprise librarian spotting?

This year we partnered with Lay Park, Athens-Clarke County Trails and Open Space, Athens Creative Theatre, Clarke County School District,
Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services and several local community groups or nonprofits!
