Pride, all year. 🧡

Today is the last day of Disability Pride Month, but pride is not something we clock out of on August first.

Every day we get to see it in action. People with disabilities living in their own homes, making their own choices, and shaping their own communities. That is what we celebrate in July, and what we show up for the other eleven months too.

That is the whole idea. The people we support decide where they live, how they spend their days, and what a good life looks like for them. Our job is to make it happen, not to run it.

Support should follow the person, always. Never the other way around.

It is a promise as much as a phrase. The people we support are not along for the ride, they are in the driver’s seat.

That means we ask before we act, we listen more than we talk, and every plan starts with what the person actually wants for their own life. Real support follows the person, never the other way around.

Presume competence. 🧡

It sounds simple, but it changes everything. It means starting with what a person can do, instead of what someone else assumed they could not.

For the adults we support, that belief is the difference between being managed and being heard. It is why we ask first, listen closely, and build support around the life each person actually wants.

Since 1992, we have supported our neighbors across Georgia to live in their own homes and lead lives they choose. Free from segregation. Free from the presumption of incompetence.
