We can’t wait!

We are taking storytime outside (again)! Join Miss Erika and friends at Dudley Park's Flower Amphitheater for our outdoor storytime at 10 am every Friday morning during the month of September. Bring children five and under to enjoy stories, songs, scarves, and instruments with new (and old) friends. This program is in partnership with Athens-Clarke County Trails and Open Space.

We had a dino-mite time with Magician Ken Scott! The kids oooo'ed and aaaahhh'ed the whole time. Wanna learn some magic tricks? Check a book and use the library's magic kit to get started.

Thank you for performing an engaging shadow puppets show at Heard Park this summer! We love exposing our library kids to different methods of storytelling. Kids learn so much through play. Stop by the library to play with our puppets and check out some books!

This summer, Jerry White, a local storyteller, told interactive stories using various percussion instruments. Along with his high energy performance, every kid at the Park camp got to be part of the story and make music with his drums. It was so fun watching the stories to come life!

During the summer our library brings in special guests to the Heard Park summer camp. Today's spotlight was our friends at ! Counselors and kids ran around the gym playing laser tag games. The pictures may be blurry but the fun they had was crystal clear!

This summer's theme was Unearth a Story! So we couldn't end the summer without learning about and meeting some dinosaurs at Heard Park. Scroll to last photo for a BIG reveal! The library has all kinds of dinosaur books for our patrons to enjoy!

This summer we've been busy! Here are a few snapshots of the Heard Park teen camp visits to our library throughout the summer. We had a local artist teach lettering/spray painting, a magician teach us some super secret tricks, used clay and paint to design something to take home, and had a building competition with crackers and cheese whiz. It was so fun seeing their curiosity and creativity shine through at each program.

All Athens Regional Libraries will be closed Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day. However, you can place holds on items for future pick-up through PINES and our digital collection is always available for your convenience, via Libby, hoopla and the Palace Project! We will resume regular operating hours the following day, Tuesday, May 26th.

First, the bad news: we're sorry to announce that access to hoopla for Athens Regional Library System patrons will end on June 30, 2026. While we appreciate the value hoopla brings to our digital collections, the platform's pricing and lending model options have become unsustainable for the library's budget. We appreciate your understanding!
