Here's a look at the most recent drought map for Georgia.

The rain over the past two weeks has improved the map overall, but much of Georgia is still in Extreme or Severe Drought according to the Drought Monitor, and the Statewide Drought Response Level 1 remains in effect.

The current rain deficit across most of Georgia is between 8 and 12 inches, so while the recent rain has improved things in the short term, we still need close to a foot of rain to catch up. We encourage everyone to continue to conserve water as we head into the summer.

We recently published our 2025 Drinking Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR).

This report provides important information on water sources, the treatment process, and the results of regular water quality monitoring and testing for the 5 billion gallons of water delivered throughout 2025.

The report reflects the dedication of the entire department to meet or surpass all state and federal drinking water standards. We are committed to delivering clean, safe drinking water to you and our community.

Keep an eye out for the CCR summary in your mailbox, and to see the full report, go to accgov.com/ccr

We’re giving away two ways to save water while you garden!

Use a moisture meter to test your soil's moisture before you start watering. If it’s recently rained, your soil may not need any extra H2O.

Also, pick up a spray nozzle with an automatic shut off valve plus 7 ways to spray, so you don’t use any more water than your plants need.

Stop by the Water Business Office, 124 E Hancock Ave, and pick yours up while supplies last, and remember to follow the current watering schedule by only watering between 4PM and 10AM.

Although we got some much needed precipitation last week, our rainfall for the year is still far from where it should be.

With very little chance of rain in the forecast, we continue to ask you to do your part in protecting our water sources:

-Check for leaks in your home
-Take shorter showers
-Turn the faucet off when not in use
-Wash full loads of clothes and dishes
-Follow the ACC outdoor water use schedule by watering between 4:00PM and 10:00AM
