Morton Theatre The oldest surviving African-American built, owned, and operated vaudeville theatre in the US. Please contact us or visit our web page for rental information.

The Morton Theatre is a 480-seat, acoustically superb auditorium listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a locally designated historic landmark. The Morton is available for performance rentals, tours, seminars, small banquets, meetings, conferences, receptions, and more.

We hope you've heard the news already, but just in case:
The walls of our historic lobby are about to get QUITE the makeover! 👀🎨

Later this month, internationally acclaimed artist Alex Maksiov begins work on “The Stage of Memory," a brand-new mural celebrating our rich performance history and legendary artists, with founder Monroe Bowers “Pink” Morton front and center.

Installation begins in late August and will take 3–4 weeks. Keep an eye on our page for behind-the-scenes updates as the artwork comes to life. 🤩

Many thanks to the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Public Art Program, the Athens Downtown Development Authority, and the Georgia Power Foundation, who graciously helped fund this exciting new addition to our space!
