Join us as we celebrate National Trails Day on June 6th. We will be working on the trails at Sandy Creek Nature Center from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. We provide gloves, tools, snacks, and good times. Come on out and show your trails some love. Sign up on our GivePulse page today! All are welcome!

Hike + Paddle = The perfect weekend! We had a blast exploring our favorite section of the Lakeside Trail at Sandy Creek Park and Lake Chapman last weekend, followed by a relaxing paddle and picnic lunch.

Solomon J. picked a great day for a hike at Southeast Clarke Park! Guess who he found out there on the trail? Everyone's favorite forest sprite, THE GNOME! Solomon scored a fantastic gift from our friends at Flowerland. The Gnome will be back on the trail starting June 1st. May you be the next to bring him home!

Another season of Classic City Kids Bike Club is in the books.

Over the past six weeks at Walker Park, these young riders challenged themselves on the trails, built confidence in the woods, conquered fears, formed friendships, and grew through positive mentorship and teamwork.

Classic City Kids Bike Club is about more than mountain biking. It’s about creating a space where kids can connect with nature, support one another, and discover what they are capable of.

Thanks to all the riders, families, and supporters who made this season a success.

Last Friday, we hosted a Disco Skate Party along the Firefly Trail in Winterville. We enjoyed seeing new and old friends on all types of wheels while boogying down to disco beats. Raffle prizes were won, laughs were had, and LOTS of skating happened!

We had such a great time with the staff and kids from Heard Park’s Afterschool Program yesterday! We hit the trails at Walker Park, learned about local flora and fauna, and added some extra fun with a nature bingo game and prizes along the way.

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers who spent Earth Day helping us clean up the North Oconee River! From plastic bottles and construction debris to fishing line, lures, tires, and even random household items, this dedicated group removed an impressive 860 pounds of trash from the river. Thank you for helping us keep our community and waterways clean!

Our Park Assistant for a Day Spring Break Mini-Camp was a huge success! Our mini-campers did some quality work on trails all over Athens-Clarke County. We still aren't sure who had more fun, us or the campers! We will offer this program again in the new school year, so stay tuned! It is a great way for middle school kids to learn what it takes to keep our trails safe and enjoyable for all.
