Democracy Matters is a non-partisan, non-profit national student organization that works to get big private money out of politics and people back in. Democracy Matters was founded in 2001 by NBA basketball player and activist Adonal

Foyle and his parents, Joan and Jay Mandle, both of whom are Colgate University professors and lifelong organizers. Democracy Matters' mission is to strengthen democracy by: (1) training young people how to be effective grassroots organizers and advocates, and (2) supporting public financing of election campaigns and other pro-democracy reforms.

You’ve probably heard a lot about HR1, “For The People Act”, but what exactly is in this dense and far reaching bill? How will it affect you and your democracy?
Please join us this Tuesday, March 19th at 5pm in room 115 of Peabody Hall as we present, explain, and discuss HR1’s most important provisions. Comments and questions are welcomed and encouraged!
