Please consider attending the Annual GAMSP Fall Conference at Lake Lanier Islands in October.

Special Note from GAESP Executive Director Hal Beaver:
"Our conference is now on line at the GAEL website and up and running. We need at least 125 participants to hold the conference. Social distancing will be enforced and masks encouraged.
To help with social distancing, we are limiting the vendors /exhibitors to 20/25 booths. Last year we had 50 booths.
Seating and meals will also be spaced. Please go ahead and register for the conference. Room rates are $159 which is the same as last year. Room registration is also on the conference registration site. In addition, GAMSP needs to be responsible for two TED TALKS (appropriate for grades K-8). Let me know if you are interested in the TED TALKS and give me a topic."

The GAMSP family is mourning the recent death of Dr. John Lounsbury. Dr. Lounsbury was one of five professors who are considered the founders of the national middle school movement, and he is often referred to as “the father of the middle school philosophy.” Throughout his life Dr. Lounsbury served as an advocate for middle grades education, serving with the Georgia Middle School Association, the Georgia Lighthouse Schools to Watch program, and the Association for Middle Level Education (formerly National Middle School Association). Dr. Lounsbury made such a profound impact on middle grades education that in 1997 Georgia College and State University, where he served as professor emeritus, opted to name their College of Education after him. The education community is richer because he lived, and poorer today because he is no longer among us.

This photo was taken from the GCSU website. In 2017, at the age of 93, Dr. Lounsbury was still working with undergraduate students.
