Last week, Board President, Kevin DeCastro, and Executive Director, Andrew Wilkin, met with PBPA attorneys to kickoff our new partnership. PBPA connects nonprofits like us with volunteer attorneys to help with legal services.

Q&A with Vic:
1. What first inspired you to start volunteering with Bigger Vision?

It was the right thing to do. A key principle of my faith is to help those on the margin. I came to know your organization as I saw your name in the bulletin of my church, as it donates to your mission. To whom much is given, much is expected.

2. Can you share your favorite memory from volunteering with us?

Well, it would actually be my favorite activity—the peanut butter and jelly sandwich assembly line 😊.

3. What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering here?

It's an opportunity to be on the front lines. And beyond directly helping those in need, doing this keeps the hard road others walk top of mind for me, right in front of my face. That awareness is a good thing. Also, I am humbled by those that work here and if my minor contributions can, in any small way, provide a little help or relief to those dedicated and selfless individuals that work here then it is well worth my time.

Last week, we put out an emergency call for water and the Athens community stepped up in a huge way! We were able to restock our shelves during the hottest period of the year because of you.

We are in the process of updating our website, so you may notice some periodic changes. If you need help connecting with us to find shelter, donate, or volunteer please visit us at https://www.bvoa.org/

Some of the changes to our website include updated information about our leadership team and a new section for upcoming events. Our next event is a fundraiser hosted by Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. We hope to see you there on July 8th from 4-7 pm at Jeni's (1710 S Lumpkin St, Athens, GA 30606).

Bigger Vision of Athens is a 501(c)3 nonprofit homeless shelter serving people in Athens, Georgia experiencing homelessness. Our Emergency Shelter Program provides 35 people with two meals, laundry, showers, and a safe bed every night. We also provide essential supplies during the day.

Things are heating up here in Athens 🔥, and we could use your help restocking our supply of water.

With the excessive heat we've been experiencing in Athens, we are going through water really quickly. To support our neighbors who have to spend the majority of their time outside, we are in serious need of donated water jugs and bottles. If you are able, please donate this week!
