This past Monday evening at approximately 6:40pm units from South Jackson, Arcade, Nicholson, JCCI & JCEMS M-6 were dispatched to the 700 block of Archer Grove Road for a residential fire.

Initial reports advised of a person possibly still inside the home. First arriving units found a double wide mobile home with heavy Fire involvement and search attempts were made from the unburned side of the residence.

A short time later, updated information was obtained and confirmed that no one was in the home. Unfortunately, due to the age of the home and a multi-tiered roof system, the fire was unable to be completely extinguished and the home was deemed a total loss.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and no injuries were reported.

At approximately 3:00pm today units from South Jackson, Arcade, Jefferson and JCCI were dispatched to Mcbar Acres Road for an outbuilding and woods fire.

First arriving units found an approximately 20x30 outbuilding fully involved that had spread to the surrounding woods and was endangering other near by structures.

The high winds today were causing hot embers to be blown from the main body of the fire into surrounding pastures causing additional spot fires.

Personnel were able to quickly deploy multiple hand lines to the wide spread area of fire and bring it under control. No injuries were reported and the cause is undetermined at this time.

At approximately 2:45pm today units from South Jackson, Jackson County CI and Jefferson responded to a mutual aid request from Arcade FD for woods/grass fire in the 500 block of Hwy 82S.

Units found approximately 2 acres involved with limited access due to the undergrowth that was present. Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control and Georgia Forestry was requested to establish a fire break in case of a rekindle.

This past Saturday fire personnel from South Jackson, North Jackson, Nicholson, Jackson County CI, Banks County and Hart County participated in an Auto Extrication class hosted by Georgia Firefighter Standards & Training Council.

Students learned how to perform victim extrication using various hydraulic powered tools and hand tools.

Vehicles were placed in different positions to help simulate real world scenarios.

Approximately 2:30pm this afternoon units from Arcade, South Jackson, JCCI and JCEMS responded to the 100 block of Holiday Cemetery Road for a residential fire.

First arriving units found fire coming from the rear of the structure that was quickly brought under control by fire personnel. No injuries were reported and the cause is undetermined at this time.

Multiple types of calls went out Thursday night through out the County due to the storms that came through the area. Call types ranged from trees and power lines down to business and residential fires.

South Jackson assisted with removing two large pines trees in front of 8503 Jefferson River Road that came down completely blocking the road way. The roadway was temporarily shut down until the trees could be removed.

At approximately 3:37pm today units from Nicholson, South Jackson, Jackson Co. CI & Jackson Co. EMS M-6 & M-4 were dispatched to 3012 New Kings Bridge Road for a residential fire.

First arriving units found the structure well involved but were able to quickly bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

Jefferson River Road is still CLOSED this morning between Westminster Drive and Archer Grove School Road due to a down tree and down power line. Please avoid the area until Georgia Power can secure the line and the roadway can be cleared.

Thursday afternoon at approximately 6:20pm units from South Jackson, Arcade, JCCI and JCEMS M-6 were dispatched to the 300 block of Hale Lane for carport on fire near a residence.

First arriving units found several items on fire under a carport and a passenger vehicle fully involved adjacent to the carport.

The fire fortunately had not spread to a log cabin home that was approximately 30 feet away from the main body of fire.

Fire personnel were able to quickly knock down the fire and prevented it from spreading to the near by structures. No injuries were reported and the cause is undetermined at this time.
