With the Fall 2023 Commencement Ceremonies this week, soon you will be joining an elite group of Concord alumni from throughout our 152 years of tradition!
We would like to take this opportunity to give you a little more information about your big day.
The Fall 2023 Commencement Ceremony schedule is listed below. All ceremonies will be held in the Leslie R. and Ruby Webb Carter Center Main Gymnasium. Please identify the department that relates to your degree to determine which ceremony to attend. Each graduate candidate will receive SIX tickets for guests. Small children, 5 years old and under, will be allowed to sit on laps. If you do not need your tickets, you may give those to other graduates in your same ceremony or let the President’s Office know in advance. Guests must have a ticket to enter commencement.

• Tickets can be picked up in the President’s Office starting November 3rd or at the ticket counter on the day of Graduation. Please contact the President’s Office at (304)384-5224 for more information.
• Extra Ticket Request Form:

• Graduates will be seated in the center of the gymnasium, and guests will be seated along the sidelines and toward the back behind graduates.
• Graduation regalia, including hooding attire, cap, and gown, may be purchased from the Campus Bookstore. The University Bookstore, located on the bottom floor of the Jerry & Jean Beasley Student Center, will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Please contact them at (304)384-5314 for more information regarding your graduation regalia.
• Graduate Students: You do not need to arrive with your hoods already on. They will be placed on you as part of the ceremony.
• Applicants for graduation are asked to report to the small gymnasium no later than 45 minutes to an hour prior to the scheduled ceremony. There is no practice for the commencement ceremony.
• When you arrive for the ceremony, you will receive instructions which will show your place in the line for the processional.
• During the ceremony, graduates will be directed to the stage according to the order listed in the program. Candidates will be announced by name, proceed forward to receive their diploma cover, and move forward for greetings from the President.
• We encourage you to reflect on the fact that this will forever be an important milestone in your life and please dress appropriately.
• A professional photographer will be present to take two pictures of the graduates, one with Dr. Kendra Boggess, President of Concord University, and the second after leaving the stage. Please follow the ushers as they will direct you.
• Mercer County has a variety of hotels and accommodations, as well as lovely restaurants to celebrate with your family after the ceremony. Please visit www.concord.edu/academics/graduation or www.visitmercercounty.com for more information.
• Relatives who will be unable to attend your commencement ceremony, Concord will provide “live streaming” of all events on our website, www.concord.edu.
• Diplomas will be mailed to confirmed graduates after they arrive from the printers. This will take approximately 10 to 12 weeks after actual degree conferral.
