We are excited about our partnership with Theta Kappa Honor Society and Technical College 💙!

Awesome things are happening in the Clarke County Sheriff's Office Jail Residents' GED Program!

𝐏𝐓𝐊 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞’𝐬 𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recently delivered donations collected from Athens Technical College faculty, staff, and students to support the GED program for incarcerated persons at the Athens-Clarke County Jail. The donations included more than 40 packs of paper, 44 composition notebooks, and over 40 GED study guides and prep workbooks. These supplies will help learners enrolled in the GED program at the jail continue their studies and prepare for testing. PTK also offered to assist learners with taking the next step—applying to college.

We look forward to watching these students grow and seeing the partnership between Phi Theta Kappa and the Clarke County Sheriff's Department continue to thrive.

"Jackass" star Steve-O says he asked Bill Maher not to smoke pot during a potential interview and to respect his 16 years of sobriety. Maher allegedly refused.

"I found it kind of upsetting when the Bill Maher podcast reached out and he smokes pot the whole time while he interviews people. I said I’d happily go on there, but while I’m on, out of respect for my sobriety, could he refrain from smoking pot. He said no and that’s a dealbreaker.”

“I’m a clean and sober guy. It’s very important that I maintain my sobriety, it’s approaching 16 years. I am about to be sweet 16. Really, there’s nothing I value more than my sobriety. There’s nothing more that I protect than my recovery.

Sobriety is more than not drinking.

It’s about becoming someone who doesn’t feel the need drink anymore.

At first you remove the alcohol away.

But the true transformation comes after that.

You start learning to feel and process your emotions.

You learn to regulate your nervous system so you can feel safe in your body.

You then build a life that’s aligned with who you actually are.

You’re not just giving up something.

You’re coming back home to yourself.
