The following committees will meet prior to the County Commission meeting on Monday, May 11, in the Blue Room of the Courthouse:

Solid Waste Committee - 4:30
Purpose: To discuss the purchase of a dozer

Emergency Services Committee - 4:45
Purpose: To consider a one year contract extension

Today kicks off National Donate Life Month! As the County Clerk, it is an honor to be able to support the mission of saving and improving lives. This year’s theme uses trees as a symbol of life and connection. Just as trees grow and support each other in a forest, donation connects people - donors, recipients, and their families. Like a tree that grows and stands for generations, a donor’s gift leaves a lasting legacy of hope and life.

Thank you to Mayor Gentry for always supporting Donate Life Month. We’re kicking off April with an In Honor of/In Memory of tree. To raise money for Organ Donation Awareness, donate $1 and place a card with your loved one’s name on the tree. They do not have to be a donor or a recipient… just someone you love.

There will be a joint County Forest Committee and Recreation Committee for Monday, March 30 at 4:00 in the Blue Room. The purpose is to review additional versions of the proposed master plan. Thank you!

The County Clerk’s Office is closed today for Presidents’ Day.

I’m finally getting around to making my 2025 Year in Review post. It includes a new DL kiosk, orange ducks, birthdays, Organ Donor Awareness, and even an award. I’m looking forward to an even better 2026 which includes an election. I’m looking forward to serving McMinn County for four more years.

McMinn County Government offices will be closed Monday, February 2 out of an abundance of caution and in consideration of the public’s and our employees’ safety.

While most main roads are clear, many rural county roads still have considerable ice coverage. This is unlikely to improve with the extremely cold temperatures predicted this evening. All offices will reopen Tuesday, February 3.
