READ Athens Take A Book; Leave a Book. No due dates, expectations or fees — just an interest in sharing books and promoting literacy in both children and adults.

A project of LEAD Athens. Little Free Libraries are being built around the country as a way to enhance communities, improve literacy and pay it forward. READ Athens is bringing this concept to Athens. It’s simple: small weather-proof structures, typically accommodating around 25 or so books, are constructed throughout town where people Take A Book; Leave a Book. There are no due dates, expectation

s or fees — just an interest in sharing books and promoting literacy in both children and adults within our community. READ Athens is a project of the Team Sprockets group of LEAD Athens, a community outreach and education program sponsored by the Athens-Clarke County Chamber of Commerce

An SOS from this Little Free Library in front of the Jittery Joe's on Baxter Street - it could use some love! Share books if you've got 'em!

And while you're at it, share with us any locations where you think a Little Free Library is needed. FLiP (the Family Literacy Partnership) Athens is compiling a list of under-served areas in town that could use free books. Send us your ideas!
