Athens County Children Services continues to work diligently to keep children safe and families strong. We strongly believe that children living in a safe, stable, and nurturing family environment have the greatest chance of growing into productive, contributing members of the community. Athens County Children Services works hard to provide or arrange services that enhance the factors that protect

children and promote strong families. We provide prevention services that support families so that incidents of abuse and neglect are reduced or eliminated. The agency continues to improve services as well as continuing to partner with our community to further enhance services to children and families. Athens County Children Services remains committed to working with families, service providers, and community members to provide children with safe and stable homes.

Today is the last day of our 2026 Peanut Butter and Jelly Project!

We will be out at all five locations from 10am-12pm, so please stop by and get some peanut butter, jelly, fresh bread, and fresh produce. A new school year is quickly approaching and we've had so much fun seeing all your bright and shining faces this summer!

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project and made it possible to get PB&J to so many children and families in our community.

We want to give a huge shoutout to our School Outreach team who are in the schools helping children and families throughout the school year and distributing PB&J each and every week of June and July, rain or shine. They are the engine of this project and do so much good work helping our community throughout the year!

Come on out to Glouster Memorial Stadium for another wonderful Community Day of Hope!

Each year, this is an amazing event to promote recovery and community resources. There will be bounce houses, games, great food, and of course, an energetic atmosphere pumped out by DJ Rockin Reggie Robinson!

We will be out there from 2pm-5pm today so stop by and spend some time checking out all our great community resources for you or someone you know!

Today is our second-to-last distribution of PB&J, fresh bread and fresh produce for the summer!

It's looking like perfect weather out there, so we hope to see everyone who needs a little extra help this summer. We want to give another big shoutout to Snowville Creamery for donating some fresh milk to give out to folks!

We also want to thank Community Food Initiatives for helping us provide fresh produce for those who stop by and see us and for all our donors in the community who have helped donate PB&J for us to give out.

We had cookout (switched to potluck inside) today for all our hardworking staff and our supervised visits occurring at that time. We wanted to give a huge shoutout to Envisage Wealth for sponsoring Mister Softee of Athens ice cream truck to come by and let our folks have a sweet treat to go along with the awesome food!

It will be another hot one today, but we will be out at our distribution locations from 10am-12pm for the Peanut Butter and Jelly Project!

We stopped by Athens Premiere Hospice, LLC to pickup their box full of PB&J they collected for the project and will get that out to folks today. We will also have fresh produce from Community Food Initiatives and some milk from Snowville Creamery, so please stop at one of our locations if you are in need!

Stay cool and hydrated and we hope to see folks out there today!

We had a great time seeing everyone yesterday at our PB&J distribution. We had a busy week picking up donations from several groups to carry us through to the end of July.

We wanted to thank Kroger for collecting 107 jars of PB&J from their staff and customers to donate toward the project!

The Athens Real Estate Company had their staff bring in jars to donate and we appreciate their kind contribution to the PB&J Project!

Clark at Kimes Nursing & Rehab was out beating the drum for more donations and was able to gather quite a haul from his fellow residents and staff!

Additionally, Christ Lutheran Church collected 62 jars of PB&J from their congregation to help support the project!

Thank you to all the community groups, businesses, and organizations who help us, each and every year, as we put on this project to help bridge the gap in summer nutrition. We still have three more Thursdays that we will be out all over the county giving PB&J, fresh bread, and fresh produce to children and families in our community!

Stop by the Athens Wal-Mart this weekend and help fill the bus with school supplies for Athens County children!
