If you’ve ever worked in an office full of women, then you know things can get interesting! There are plenty of opinions, lots of laughter, and occasionally a little debate... but today, there was one thing all the ladies at AUB could agree on: 💕 DOLLY PARTON WAS THE BEST! 💕

So today, the ladies at AUB wore pink in memory of our beloved Dolly. 🎀

We all have a Dolly story. Maybe it’s the books your children received through the Imagination Library, the unforgettable memories made at Dollywood, or simply a song that touched your heart and spoke directly to you. Whatever your connection, Dolly had a way of making each of us feel like we knew her personally.

Her kindness, generosity, humor, talent, and love for others made her truly one of a kind. There will never be another Dolly. 🌸💕

RIP, Dolly. You will truly be missed.
The ladies at AUB loved you... and we always will. 💗✨

All power restored and pole is replaced. Thanks for your patience this evening.

⚠️ POWER OUTAGE NOTICE ⚠️

AUB crews are responding to a broken utility pole near 633 County Road 422. The pole will need to be replaced, and crews may need to open a couple of transformers in order to safely complete the repairs.

Customers in the area of the intersection of County Road 422 and County Road 418 may experience a power outage while crews work.

We appreciate your patience as our crews work to safely make the necessary repairs and restore power as quickly as possible.

🚨 POWER OUTAGE – ENGLEWOOD AREA 🚨

A large oak tree has caused a utility pole to break on Chestuee Street in Englewood, resulting in a power outage in the area.

Our crews are responding and will work as quickly and safely as possible to make the necessary repairs and restore service.

We appreciate your patience as we work to get everyone back up and running!

Water Leak Detection Work Beginning Thursday, August 20

Starting tomorrow, AUB will be working with **McKim & Creed** to conduct contract water leak detection services throughout portions of our water system.

Over the next approximately two weeks, crews will survey around 100 miles of AUB water mains, primarily focusing on the downtown and surrounding areas.

You may see a team of 1–4 people walking throughout the area and using specialized equipment to “listen” for possible water leaks in our system. This proactive work helps us identify leaks that may not be visible above ground and allows us to make repairs before they become larger issues.

We’ve attached photos so you’ll know what the crews and their equipment look like if you see them working in your area.

ALL POWER RESTORED TO THE AREA WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 1 CUSTOMER ON CO RD 439.

Thanks for your patience this evening. Lightning was the cause of the majority of the outages.

We are currently experiencing multiple power outages throughout our entire service area. At this time, there are simply too many outages to list individually.

Our crews are out in the field assessing damage and working to restore power. We know being without electricity is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to make repairs as quickly and safely as possible.

Update 1:30 p.m.

Water is restored to the area. Please remember some customers may experience cloudy water (which is tiny air bubbles entrained in the water) and also might hear air in the lines when they turn their water on or flush the toilet. Running water for a couple of minutes should clear any issues.

WATER MAIN BREAK – TELLICO AVENUE

Athens Utilities Board crews are responding to a water main break on Tellico Avenue.

Customers on and around Tellico Avenue, North Jackson Street, Railroad Avenue, Fisher Street, Kelly Street and Miller Circle may experience low water pressure or an interruption in water service while crews work to make repairs.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to get the water service restored as quickly as possible.

Please avoid the area if possible and use caution around work crews. 💧🔧

We’ll provide an update when repairs are complete.

🚨 You may notice AUB crews in your neighborhood beginning today.

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, Athens Utilities Board will be conducting routine, federally required natural gas leak surveys throughout our service area.

During these surveys, AUB employees will inspect natural gas lines from the street to customer meters at both residential and commercial properties. You may see crews traveling slowly through neighborhoods in a side-by-side (ATV) or walking through yards while using specialized equipment to trace gas service lines and check for even the smallest traces of natural gas.

Please don't be alarmed if you see an AUB employee in or around your yard. These inspections are a normal part of maintaining a safe and reliable natural gas system and help us protect our customers and our community.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our natural gas system operating safely.

All power restored. The cause of the outage was lightning.

Our crews are en route and working to determine the cause of the outage and assess the necessary repairs. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

🚨 POWER OUTAGE 🚨

We are currently experiencing a large power outage in the Ingleside Avenue/Mt. Verd Road area of Athens. A large tree has taken down numerous power lines, resulting in a broken pole, and repairs will take some time to complete.

Our crews will be working to safely switch power and restore service to as many customers as possible while repairs are underway. Crews are beginning the restoration process and will work diligently to get everyone back in service as quickly and safely as possible.
