AH-HAA! Our summertime Story book trail is open now, and ready to be enjoyed. It's "The Toll Bridge Troll" a fun story about those mythical creatures. It's a somewhat longer trail, about 1.5 miles, but it needed to be stretched to include enough bridges! Basically easy walking, however, but inadvisable for strollers. Come and enjoy the walk!

Heres's the latest improvement on our trails, built by Bobby Curley of NQTA. This bridge crosses theKendall Brook at Mermaid Pool, and we're loving the convenience of crossing it to the north side trails.

Mayflowers are blooming! The lovely little blooms are endangered, but we have a couple of treasured spots where they survive. The blooms are tiny, and hide shyly near or underneath the shiny leaves, so they are easy to miss. Mayflowers, which are the state flower of Massachusetts, prefer to live in rocky or sandy soil, and can be found mostly near pine or other evergreen trees.. If you find any, please do NOT pick them. Bend down, take a sniff, and leave with the memory of their scent. They are truly treasures of our native woodlands.

Spring has sprung! Today we put up the first of this year's Story Book Trails. You can read local author Sylvia Wetherby's nature story, "Polly Gone" as you follow about a 1.25 mile long trail along the Cutthroat and Kendall Brooks. It's basically pretty flat, although rocky in some spots, so strollers are not recommended. With younger kids, this book will need an older reader, but the story is suitable for all ages. We're planning on leaving this trail up through the month of May. Just pop up anytime and follow the little orange flags!

Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust. wrote a lovely piece about our amazing Triple Oak tree! The weather is warming up โ€” come for a walk and see her in person! Sheโ€™s just a minute or two away from the parking lot. ๐ŸŒณ

In February, the tree was shared with a national audience after featuring in the NBC series The Americas.

Many thanks to Mount Grace Land Conservation for naming us their โ€œHike of the Monthโ€!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Come see the changing of the seasons in our woods, as Winter fades and Spring eases her way back into the forest.

Further info about "the Americas," to be shown on NBC (February 23). The first episode, "The Atlantic Coast" is the one in which our Triple Oak will appear, probably near the end of the hour. The focus on the tree is about how a single tree reacts to its ever changing environment thorough the seasons, and the changes it goes through to adapt.

We are thrilled to share our tree with so many people all over the world!

We are informed by the BBC producer who spent much time here 2 years ago, filming the Triple Oak, that it should be making its appearance on the first episode of The Americas, to be broadcast by NBC on February 23. Although the BBC spent hundreds of hours filming, they are hoping to result in a 3- 5 minute section about this particular tree. Therefore, watch carefully and hope you catch it! That's all the information we have at present.

We're on Google now! ๐Ÿ˜€ You can look us up on both Google and Google Maps for directions so you don't have to remember the address for your GPS. On Google, if you click "website" it will link you to a map of the trails. There's a place to share our info with others, and of course, we added pictures too!

Yep, you guessed it. Another story book trail! This time we're featuring "Horatio Mortimer Loves Music" by local author Sharin Harmon. This trail is about a mile long, mostly fairly flat, but with some roots and rocks so strollers are not recommended. We go through woods, across a meadow, over some bridges, and follow the Cutthroat Brook, all on a well marked trail. Hoping to see families out enjoying the woods on these fine early fall days!
