Yesterday MOVA presented my constituent, Lori Roy, with the Advocate of the Year Award which recognizes an individual from a criminal legal and/or community-based agency who has made extraordinary contributions to the lives of victims and survivors.

Lori worked as the Deputy Director of the Victim Witness Unit within the Northwestern District Attorney's Office. She began her career as an intern with the Victim Witness Unit in 1993 before embarking on a career that has covered domestic violence, assault, sexual assault, property crimes, and homicide cases. She has worked in the Orange, Greenfield, and Northampton offices before rising to a supervisory role where she oversaw advocates in Hampshire and Franklin Counties.

Congratulations and thank you, Lori, for many years of comfort and support for those in need of your assistance.

Each pair of shoes represents a case of child abuse or neglect in a single day in the Commonwealth. This year there were fewer pairs on display than last year. We won’t stop until the staircase is empty.
We are so fortunate to have fantastic agencies like The Children's Trust and our friends at Valuing Our Children working to strengthen families and protect children.

April 13 means it’s 413 Day in the Commonwealth. I started the day in Gill with LG Driscoll and Executive Office of Housing and Liveable Communities Secretary Juana Mathias for awards of Housing Choice grants to some rural communities.
We then went to Care Drive in Erving to walk the future site of new housing opportunities in the Town of Erving.
This afternoon 413 Day took me to Franklin County Technical School to check out their new AVIATION MAINTENANCE PROGRAM with Education Secretary Zrike and Assistant Secretary Bob LaPage. This program is FAA approved and will offer incredible opportunities to their students.
Thank you to all local leaders and partners for making 413 Day spectacular.

EVERY DAY SHOULD BE 413 DAY!
