Today, August 6: It has been 61 years since President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 into law on August 6. Sixty-one years of making voting accessible to everyone. Sixty-one years of increasing representation in government.

And it has had a profound impact. It successfully and massively increased voter turnout and registration, with some states more than tripling their voter rolls in just three years. Over the past 40 years, overall minority voter turnout has increased more than 30% nationwide. (text from LWVUS email)

New neighbors who might not be registered? Share this with them, and share on your own social media pages. Direct people to their own town/city clerk's office. Voting matters, and it starts with voter registration.

To register to vote in NH, you need to be a U.S. citizen. You can prove you are a U.S. citizen with documentary proof, prior voter registration in NH, by asking your local election official to search NH Vital Records or DMV info, or, if you do not possess the documents necessary to prove citizenship, you can sign a qualified voter affidavit, subject to the penalties for voter fraud.
