Tonight, the Cedartown Exchange Club presented Sgt Jimmy Parker with a plaque for the Rockmart Officer of the Year. Sgt Parker has been a dedicated leader to his shift and to the City of Rockmart for many years. He always comes in to work and leads from the front, answering calls and assisting the community. He deserves this award because of his consistency and loyalty over the years. Jimmy participated in many community events and he even started our police K-9 fundraiser 5k run. We’re thankful to have his leadership and friendship here at RPD. Thank you for all you do Sgt Parker.

Hey Rockmart, we know it's been a while but we'd love to spotlight our girl, Gena. ☺️ As always, this girls nose, knows!
Even though we may be quiet on socials, rest assured this girl is working hard every day to find dangerous drugs and get them off the streets of Rockmart (& others places too😉)! She is the bestest girl and we are so proud of her and her hard work. She lives for the drive to work and that shows in the dedication the K9 team gives to the citizens of Rockmart!

Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of our visitors and staff, City of Rockmart Administration offices will delay opening until 10:00 a.m. tomorrow due to potential icy conditions on the roads. Thank you for your understanding, and please use caution if traveling.

Reminder: any remaining moisture on the roads today will refreeze overnight and create dangerous road conditions. Black ice is especially dangerous when it's dark, so please stay inside and off the roads overnight and throughout tomorrow.

Stay safe and stay warm!

Thats a wrap! We’d like to thank all of the sponsors and donors for this year’s Christmas is for Kids event. If you brought gifts and/or provided cash donations, we appreciate you all. This year, our officers were able to provide gifts to 109 children in our community. We also provided a ham and sides for a full Christmas meal for the 49 different families. We’d like to acknowledge and thank Officer Aryn Watters, Officer Alex Barnett, Detective Wayne Fuller, Sgt Mike Stewart, and Secretary Madeline Wilkes for their dedication to this program this year. They made it happen. We’d like to thank our partnership with Crossview Church for giving us a space to deliver and hand out the gifts. Thanks Rockmart. Because of you all, children and families will smile next week. Merry Christmas!
