Please donate to help America's Heroes!!

American Legion Post 291 is accepting donations of the following items to support the veterans in the T.R.O.O.P.S Program of the Mary Hall Freedom House and the homeless veterans at Ft. McPherson.

Those who bring in a new item will not have to pay the cover charge.

This will be on the first Friday: July 1, 2022 and August 5, 2022

If you want to donate but do not come out on 1st Fridays, you can drop off the items at American Legion Post 291, 4588 Boulder Park Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30331 on the following days or contact Cassandra Randolph, Commander at 404-310-0774.

YOU MUST REGISTER BELOW!

The drive-thru pop-up grocery will be set up this Friday, June 3rd from 4pm to 6pm in the parking lot of Piedmont Church in Marietta.

Join us in celebrating Juneteenth for the month of June at our 1st Friday Fish Fry, 3 Jun 2022, 8:00 pm - 1:00 am. BYOB and $9.00 at the door.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Sometimes called Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on 19 June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

Attire: African attire or red black and green(represents the Pan-African flag) -
Red - represents the millions of men and women who have lost their lives.
Black - represents melanin, the soil of the Nile valley and the unification of the African diaspora.
Green - stands for fertility, productivity and prosperity and the fertile cradle of Africa.
Red, white and blue (represents the Juneteenth flag). The red, white and blue colors communicate that the American Slaves, and their descendants were all Americans."

UPDATED FLYER!!! Love is in the air! Love is in the air!! The American Legion Post 291 is hosting its first Sweetheart Ball. Please join us in our fundraising efforts to support our veteran community. It will be an evening of live entertainment, a delicious dinner, and dancing. The tickets are $25.00 per person or $45 per couple. The attire is semi-formal/ business casual, but sneakers are welcome (it's the new thing). This is a BYOB event,but we will have an open wine bar.
