Dr. Michelle Morancie, Fulton County School Board District 7 Issues

Quality of Education -
Education and services should be equitable throughout the county. This is unacceptable for the children and staff.

Those of us who are educators are well aware that children in poorer neighborhoods tend to receive an education that is inferior to those who live in more affluent areas. In poorer areas the schools lack supplies and services that will help them to succeed. In Fulton County children the quality of services and academic performance is unequal. The north Fulton districts enjoy a higher quality of ac

ademic services and outcomes than the schools in the south Fulton districts. Even within districts, schools can differ in the quality of service based on the socioeconomic status of the community. In Fulton county, parents should not have to figure out which schools are "good" or "excellent". All of our schools should provide an excellent quality of education for all children. Increase staffing to address mental health and wellness of students -
In Fulton County there is one School Psychologist for every 2200 students. Recruitment of additional Psychologists and Social Workers to address the social/emotional needs of students is essential. Cultural Competence -
In this time of national division in many areas, it is important for our children to celebrate cultural differences and diversity.

Congratulations to Woodland ES on the opening of their newly renovated media center. It is bright, beautiful, and the kiddos were excited to be the first to peruse the Book Maze and curl up on the couch with a new read.

Happy first day of the 26-27 school year! This morning I had the pleasure of doing carpool at Woodland ES. Seeing all of those smiling and excited faces made my day. Thank you Principal Haley. It’s gonna be a great year at Fulton County Schools.

This was a good week of preparation for the 26-27 school year. I had the pleasure of attending the Zone 4 and Zone 5’s administrative retreats. It was great to participate in team building exercises, though I had to leave the Zone 4 retreat before I could participate in a LEGO activity. ( I enjoy LEGO’s). I also attended summer graduation exercises. Congratulations to the Class of 2026! I’m sure that this will be a productive year. I look forward to seeing you at First Day Fulton at Centennial HS. Feel free to introduce yourself when you see me 😊

It was great to see the excitement and pride on the faces of our students who participated in Camp Innovation at Dunwoody Springs ES. Innovators from kindergarten through fifth grade showcased their projects yesterday. They showed hand made solar boxes, claw grabbers, motorized penguins, table hockey, glow plants, and roller coasters to name just a few. Each innovator was able to explain how their project worked. All of the innovators that I spoke with told me that they had a great time at camp and want to participate again next summer. STEM is alive in FCS.
