What a POWERFUL Saturday with the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women! 💙

The South Metro Democratic Women’s Council did NOT play when they hosted our GFDW Summer Quarterly Meeting and the room was full of exactly what it should’ve been: purpose, power, and women (and allies) leading the charge for a better Georgia.

“Leading The Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future” wasn’t just a theme on a banner you could feel it in every conversation, every handshake, every “I’m ready to get to work.”

This is what it looks like when women show up for each other. This is what organizing looks like. This is what WINNING looks like.

Together, we lead. Together, we win. 🗳️💙🌊🍑💙🌊🇺🇸

Happy Women's Equality Day, Everyone! 106 years ago today, the 19th Amendment was ratified by Tennessee, the last state that could vote on ratification within the time allowed, at the very last minute by one vote that almost wasn't cast.

Young Harry Burn, who was going to vote "No," changed his vote when he read the letter from his mother urging him to "be a good boy" and vote "yes." When he changed his vote and the amendment was ratified, he had to escape the chamber through an open window on a hot August Day in Nashville to escape the angry, somewhat inebriated mob of legislators who were furious that he had changed his mind to allow women to vote.

And, the rest is history! Thanks Harry's mom!!! Thanks Harry!!

Now it is up to us to encourage women to exercise their hard-earned right to vote to go to the polls in overwhelming numbers to elect Democrats up and down the ballot, especially those women who are running to change the face of power in Georgia, and, when they win, to encourage all in the House and Senate to "do the right thing"!
