On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Governor Kemp has called a Special Session at the Georgia State Capitol, and the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women will be there.

The session begins at 2:00 PM, but we are meeting at 1:00 PM at the Capitol so we can stand together, stay informed, and make sure our voices are seen and heard.

This special session will address issues that could impact voting rights, fair maps, representation, and the future of communities across Georgia.

Democratic women cannot sit this one out.

Be present.
Be heard.
Be the change.

The Georgia Federation of Democratic Women joins communities across our state in mourning the loss of a true giant in public service, Congressman David Scott.

For more than two decades in Washington and nearly 30 years in the Georgia General Assembly, Congressman Scott was a steadfast advocate for the people of Fulton, Henry, Clayton, DeKalb, Rockdale, Newton, and Gwinnett counties. His historic leadership as the first African American to chair the House Agriculture Committee marked a significant milestone, but his enduring legacy is found in the consistent, behind-the-scenes work he carried out on behalf of his constituents—securing resources for our schools, supporting veterans, and championing economic opportunity and dignity for all Georgians.

On behalf of the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women, I extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Alfredia, their children, and the entire Scott family. We are deeply grateful for his lifetime of service, and the impact of his work will continue to be felt for generations.
