As Atlanta gets set to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup this month we're wishing Dublin-born Roberto "Pico" Lopes and the Cape Verde national team the very best of luck.

Born in Ireland to an Irish mother and Cape Verdean father, Roberto's journey to the World Cup is a unique one. Having grown up in Dublin, he now represents Cape Verde on the international stage and will be among the players taking to the field in Atlanta on Monday against Spain.

Read more about Roberto's story, his family connections, and his path to the World Cup in the article here https://www.ireland.ie/en/portugal/dublin-world-cup-roberto-pico-lopes-on-football-family-representing-cape-verde/

Each year, the Greater Memphis Chamber selects a country to spotlight through its annual May in Memphis International Festival. We are delighted that Ireland has been chosen as this year's honoree

We look forward to joining the Chamber for its economic luncheon this month, where CG Groome will be joined by Catherina Blewitt from IDA and John Woodward from Enterprise Ireland for a panel discussion on the growing economic relationship between Ireland and Memphis.

As Ireland and Memphis continue to deepen commercial ties, the conversation will explore Ireland's role as a gateway to the European market and the expanding opportunities for collaboration in trade, innovation, technology, logistics, and business expansion.

Thank you to the Memphis Chamber for its continued support and for highlighting the strong connections between Ireland and Memphis.

Join us on June 16th from 5:30pm–7:30pm for a special Bloomsday screening of 100 Years of Ulysses as we celebrate the life and work of James Joyce. Guests can enjoy burgundy and gorgonzola alongside an opportunity to share and read short passages from Ulysses.

To mark the centenary of the publication of James Joyce's novel Ulysses, Ann Skelly narrates a documentary aiming to unlock the highly influential and controversial book. First published in Paris on February 2, 1922, the epic novel details a single day in Dublin—June 16, 1904—and remains a groundbreaking pillar of 20th-century literature and stream-of-consciousness writing.
