The government has been using the same old photos to claim horses on the range are starving to justify rounding up 80,000 wild horses across the American West.
The same photos. Recycled for years. To make you believe the removals are for the horses' own good.
They're not. Any REAL round up footage or footage from the range show perfectly healthy and thriving horses, outside of the occasional elderly or injured horse.
Here's what's actually happening:
Ranchers pay $1.69 to graze cattle on YOUR public land. The real market rate is over $23. That's a $21 taxpayer-funded subsidy — and wild horses eat the same grass as cattle.
Wild horse herd areas sit on top of oil fields, gas deposits, coal reserves, and lithium mines. When horses are removed, extraction access expands. The BLM manages both the land and the mining permits.
Forest Service horses are removed when cattle allotments, timber operations, or mining companies need the land cleared.
Reservation horses have zero federal protection. They're sold directly — no oversight, no holding, no questions — because they're seen as competition for cattle.
Three agencies. Three stated reasons. One pattern: wherever wild horses eat grass, someone with money wants them gone.
