Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates—a statewide, residential incentive program—has surpassed $50 million in rebates issued to households across the state. The rebates are helping Georgia families reduce energy costs, improve home comfort, and invest in lasting energy-efficient upgrades. Since the program’s launch, more than 3,500 households have saved, on average, $1,407 on estimated annual energy costs, with an average rebate amount of $12,104.

🚨 FBI PSA: Malicious Cyber Actors Targeting Water and Wastewater Sector PLCs

The FBI warns that malicious cyber actors are conducting cyber attacks targeting operational technology devices. These threat actors are remotely accessing internet-facing PLCs, changing IPs and passwords, and causing operational disruption, including pressure loss and flooding.

Key Protective Measures:
➡️ Disconnect PLCs from the public-facing internet
➡️ Change default passwords
➡️ Restrict network access
➡️ Set physical PLC mode switches to “Run”
➡️ Maintain manual operation capability
➡️ Review PLC project files
➡️ Plan for end-of-life replacements

Last month, Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates celebrated the completion of a 76-unit multifamily building in Norcross, Ga., providing energy-efficient housing for residents age 55 and older. Upgrades to the individual units included air sealing, electric cooking appliances, and insulation. Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates is proud to help residents save money on their energy bills by improving the energy efficiency of their homes. Attendees included GEFA’s Trey Bennett, Kristofor Anderson, Shane Hix, and Anita Wilson; members of Walton Communities, including CFO Corbin Adams; the contractor on the project, SK Collaborative; and the Guidehouse multifamily implementation team.

In June, Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates celebrated the completion of energy efficiency upgrades for 123 multifamily units in Tallapoosa, Ga. The energy efficiency upgrades included electric cooking appliances, heat pumps for space heating and cooling, and electrical wiring. Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates was proud to work with the Tallapoosa Housing Authority to provide much needed upgrades that will benefit low-income residents. Attendees included GEFA’s Anita Wilson, Executive Director of Tallapoosa Housing Authority Russell Nast, and the Guidehouse multifamily implementation team.

Technical assistance is now available to help public-sector organizations plan, procure, and implement Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) projects that modernize facilities, reduce energy and water use, and address deferred maintenance using guaranteed savings over time. It is available to help public entities in Georgia that own or operate facilities, including cities, counties, and consolidated governments; K‑12 public school districts and individual schools; and public colleges, universities, and technical colleges.
