The Georgia Center for Resources and Support

The Georgia Center for Resources and Support Our purpose is to increase access to resources and supportive services for adoptive and foster families and reduce the occurrence of disruptions in Georgia

The mission of the Georgia Center for Resources and Support is “to establish a seamless, comprehensive support network of post-placement services that strengthen Georgia’s adoptive and foster families.”

All GACRS services are available at no cost. Regional Resource Advisors, available throughout Georgia, assist adoptive and foster families by providing advice, support and training related to pare

nting children who are adopted or in foster care. GACRS provides support with locating community resources and developing local support groups. The GACRS Lending Library has books, videos, articles, and other items of interest for parents, children and teens related to the behavioral health, child development and others foster and adoptive concerns.

**Update on GACRS Post Adoption Transition**
Dear Caregivers & Community Partners,

This message is a follow-up to our previous communication regarding the Georgia Department of Human Services’ (DHS) decision not to renew Families First’s Georgia Center for Resources and Support (GACRS) contract beyond June 30, 2026. As this transition process evolves, we will continue to provide pertinent updates regarding the transition via email.

Families First and DHS remain fully committed to the well-being of caregivers and families throughout this transition. We are working closely together to help ensure that adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families continue to receive the care, support, and resources they need moving forward. DHS and Families First are actively developing a thoughtful transition plan focused on minimizing disruption and prioritizing the best interests of the families we have all been honored to serve. As DHS moves forward with restructuring post-adoption services within the state, we remain appreciative of our collaboration and hopeful for future opportunities to continue supporting families in meaningful ways.

Please note that the GACRS website will remain accessible in some capacity after June 30, 2026; however, the structure and functionality of the site will change following that date. We appreciate your patience and understanding as these updates are implemented. In the meantime, we encourage you to continue utilizing the services, resources, and supports currently available through GACRS through June 30, 2026. If you have questions or need assistance during this transition, please reach out to the GACRS Team.

On behalf of the entire GACRS Team and all of us at Families First, thank you for allowing us to walk alongside your families over the years. Serving you has truly been an honor and a privilege, and we remain committed to supporting families throughout this transition process.

With heartfelt appreciation!
