At 9:00 p.m., communities across the country take part in a simple tradition known as the “9 PM Routine.” Before turning in for the night, take a few moments to remove valuables from your vehicle, lock your car doors, secure your home, and turn on exterior lights if available.

Many thefts and vehicle break-ins are crimes of opportunity. By making security part of your nightly routine, you can greatly reduce your chances of becoming a victim. A few seconds of prevention can make a big difference.

Tonight at 9:00 p.m., SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN wants all Clayton County citizens to take the time to lock it, remove it, and secure it. Together, we can help keep our community safe.

Happy Mother’s Day from SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN

To all the incredible mothers of Clayton County—your love, resilience, and unwavering dedication are the heart of our community. Everyone who truly knows me knows the Lion King is my favorite movie, but one thing that’s often looked over about the pride of lions is the lionesses.

The Lion King is normally the biggest of the pride and symbolizes power and dominance, but it is the lionesses that run the show. Lionesses are the foundation of the pride’s daily survival and future generations. A pride without strong lionesses typically does not survive long.

Lionesses are the

Providers
Protectors
Teachers
Caregivers
Strategists

Because there is no roadmap to raising a child or a manual that’s sent home with you from the hospital on intervals about when and what to do in your child’s life, I believe all mothers will naturally do anything to protect their children. This is why it’s very important to have a strong faith base and an incredible village around you to raise your child.

As you celebrate this special day, I hope you find moments of joy, rest, and appreciation surrounded by those who love you most and know you inspire us more than words can express.

Please also remember to take simple steps to stay safe—lock your car doors and remain mindful of your surroundings while you’re out and about.

Wishing you a day filled with peace, happiness, and the recognition you truly deserve.

Cinco de Mayo Safety Reminder: ONE DECISION CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING.
MAKE THE RIGHT ONE. SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN

As our community comes together to celebrate, let’s ensure this is an occasion we can all be proud of. Safety starts with personal responsibility and looking out for one another.

Plan your ride before you go out. Designate a sober driver. Remember, even one drink can impair judgment—don’t take the risk. If needed, stay where you are and make the safe choice.

If you’re hosting, take steps to protect your guests. Provide food and non-alcoholic options, know when to stop serving alcohol, and ensure everyone has a safe way home. Secure your home and valuables, and remain attentive to those in your care. The Sheriff’s Office will be out throughout the night.

PROTECT THE COMMUNITY.
ENJOY THE CELEBRATION.
