It’s National Police Week and a time to reflect on and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while doing the job they loved.

Two of our fallen officers, Officer David Leslie Hagins EOW: December 14, 1980 and Officer Christopher Bieker May EOW: August 19, 1991, were honored this week by the Sandy Springs Police at their new Police Headquarters. Officer Hagins was shot and killed while responding to the burglary of a jewelry store and Officer May was shot and killed while investigating a shooting in a residential neighborhood. Both of these incidents took place in Fulton County in locations that are now within the city limits of Sandy Springs.

We joined Sandy Springs Police, Officer Hagins’ family and fellow officers in a touching ceremony in which a training room was dedicated to each officer to ensure their legacy lives on.

🐱Your feel good video of the day🚨

Animal Services Officer Eubanks responded to a call in reference to a kitten stuck in a deep drainage system. The unusual location made it very difficult to even see the kitten let alone rescue it. After two hours of using one hand to hold his cellphone to see the kitten and the other hand repeatedly using a leash, Officer Eubanks was able to save this sweet little baby. Amazing job Officer Eubanks!

Officer Pokey will be serving in a dual role as both Police Officer and Animal Control Officer. His qualifications include:

- 15 years of experience “coming out of his shell”

- Advanced training in slow-speed pursuits

- A natural ability to carry his own protective gear at all times

- And an unmatched commitment to taking things… one step at a time

🚨IN CUSTODY🚨
Back in January we asked for the public's help identifying the suspect responsible for a horrific case of Animal Cruelty that occurred at the parking deck at Atlantic Station last summer. That suspect has been identified as Dorie Trimez Wilson and is now in custody at the Fulton County Jail with no bond. Wilson has been charged with two counts of Be******ty and two counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, all felonies.

Wilson has an extensive criminal history dating back almost thirty years and was taken into custody by Fulton County Police on February 6th for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in a separate case. At the time of his arrest, he was out on bond for a third case for Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substance and Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance.

We will continue to seek justice for all animals in Fulton County and ensure that these offenders are held accountable.
