It is with deep regret that we announce the closure of SWEEAC after 35 years of dedicated service, effective 12/31/2023. Serving the Atlanta communities and being a resource for families grappling with food insecurity has been a genuine honor and privilege. Unfortunately, like many nonprofits, the financial challenges have become insurmountable, particularly since our move to a new location. Meeting monthly obligations has proven difficult, making the decision to close our doors inevitable.

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who supported, donated, volunteered, and answered our calls for assistance. Your support has been invaluable, and our appreciation knows no bounds. We acknowledge the emotional nature of this decision and apologize for not being able to personally reach out to each of you by phone. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

Thank you once again, and please rest assured that we are diligently working to transition those who have benefited from our services to other organizations that can provide assistance.

We have reached our maximum number of families to receive toys this year. We apologize to anyone who was unable to get a space. We wish we had more open spaces. Please contact 211 for a list of other organizations that might be having a Christmas Toy event.

Our food distribution event was a huge success. Thank you to the volunteers and a special thank you to the Historic Butler Street Baptist Church for hosting this event. We made a huge impact in the Old Fourth Ward community of Atlanta.

We were out Saturday distributing fresh produce and other food items to the community in Atlanta’s fourth ward at Butler Street Baptist Church. The line formed early and the food was plentiful. Thank you to the volunteers who gave of their time who helped us make this successful.
