It was a great morning of collaboration between Rockdale County partners discussing THIRA, Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, to strengthen community resilience and emergency preparedness. Jared Harris, EMA Intern, did a phenomenal job presenting his THIRA research with support and assistance from Gerald Woodridge, EMA Planning Specialist. Thank you to those who were in attendance to discuss this critical assessment so that we can better prepare and respond. We appreciate representatives from Rockdale County Fire Rescue, Technical Services, 911, EMA, RDOT, GNR Public Health, Piedmont Rockdale, and GEMA for joining us.

Rockdale County, GA — August 7, 2026

Rockdale County Water Resources (RWR) is pleased to announce that the precautionary boil water advisory issued for the northern portion of Rockdale County has been lifted, effective immediately.

The advisory was issued following a water main that was damaged by a private contractor that resulted in temporarily low water pressure in the affected area. RWR crews promptly repaired the damaged water main, flushed the water system, and restored normal water pressure.

As part of RWR’s water quality verification process, microbiological testing for coliform bacteria was conducted at 20 separate locations throughout the affected area. The test results have been reviewed and all samples met applicable water quality standards.

Residents in the affected area may now resume normal use of their tap water, including drinking, cooking, making ice, and other household activities.

Rockdale County Water Resources appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this precautionary measure. We also thank our customers for their understanding as RWR worked diligently to restore the system and ensure the safety and quality of the County’s drinking water.

Rockdale County Water Resources remains committed to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality drinking water to our community.

Official Update: Boil Water Advisory Extended

Rockdale County Water Resources is extending the Boil Water Advisory for the affected areas of North Rockdale County for an additional 24 hours.

Initial water-quality testing has been completed; however, 1 test out of the 20 samples requires re-testing after inconclusive results before the advisory may be lifted. Water Resources staff are collecting the required repeat samples today and will continue monitoring water-quality conditions throughout the affected area.

The advisory will remain in effect until satisfactory test results are received and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division confirms that it may be lifted.

Residents in the affected area should continue following all Boil Water Advisory precautions. Additional updates will be provided as soon as they become available.
