CHRIS 180 was founded in Georgia in 1981 as a collaboration between the Junior League of Atlanta and the Menninger Foundation to bridge gaps in foster care services for children who required residential mental health treatment, but who did not need institutionalization/hospitalization. We accomplish our mission by ensuring child and family well-being through mental health treatment and stable livi

ng environments; preventing family problems through education, counseling and teaching life skills; and impacting public policies through advocacy. We are one of the Southeast’s premiere mental health, child welfare and family service organizations. We are a leader in Georgia and a founding member of multiple collaborations to help children and families. Today, we save, serve and protect thousands of abused and neglected children while empowering families through positive, solution focused programming which includes: behavioral health, life/social/vocational skill development, group homes, community services, training and housing programs.

When “I’m Fine” Doesn’t Tell the Whole Story

Sometimes, “I’m fine” is the easiest answer to give, even when someone is carrying something difficult.

Children, teens, and adults may not always have the words to explain what they’re feeling. Changes in behavior, mood, relationships, or daily routines can be signs that someone may need extra support.

A simple check-in can make a difference.

Try asking:
• “How have you really been feeling?”
• “What has been on your mind lately?”
• “Is there anything you want to talk about?”

Listening without judgment creates space for honest conversations.

At CHRIS 180, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to be heard and supported.

Did You Know? Foster parents receive ongoing support from CHRIS 180.

Becoming a foster parent is a meaningful commitment, and caregivers should not have to navigate the journey alone.

At CHRIS 180, we know that supporting a child also means supporting the caregiver. Foster parents receive guidance, resources, and ongoing support to help them provide stability, care, and connection for the children in their homes.

When caregivers feel supported, children have a stronger foundation to heal and grow.

Some moments remind us why this work matters.

N. Webb was part of the CHRIS 180 At Promise Center Clubhouse program while growing up. Despite facing challenges along the way, she stayed focused on her future and remained on the honor roll throughout high school.

At just 17, N. Webb graduated early from Douglas High School and earned a full scholarship to the University of West Georgia, where she is now studying graphic design.

Today, she is adjusting well to college life and beginning an exciting new chapter.

We are proud to see how far she has come and grateful to have been part of her journey. We cannot wait to see where she goes next.

Keep going, N. Webb. Your future is bright.

New Month. New Mindset.

A new month can be a chance to pause, reflect, and think about what you need moving forward.

September brings new routines, new transitions, and new opportunities to prioritize mental health and well-being.

Whether it means creating healthier habits, reconnecting with people you care about, or reaching out for support, small steps can make a difference.

At CHRIS 180, we believe everyone deserves access to care, connection, and support through every season of life.

Self-Care Sunday: Reset Before September

As August comes to a close, take a moment to pause before stepping into a new month.

September often brings new routines, busy schedules, and fresh responsibilities. Before the pace picks up, give yourself time to reflect and reset.

Take a moment to:
• Recognize something you’re proud of from this month
• Let go of something that has been weighing on you
• Think about what you need in the month ahead
• Make time for the people and activities that support your well-being

A new month does not require a perfect restart. Sometimes, it simply begins with taking care of yourself.

Busy seasons can feel overwhelming for children, too.

As school routines settle in and calendars fill up, children may be adjusting to more than we realize. Small, intentional moments of connection can help them feel safe, supported, and confident through the changes.

Here are five simple ways to help your child feel supported during busy seasons.

Which one will you try this week?

Caring for your mental health is part of your wellness.

When we think about wellness, we often focus on physical health, routines, or daily habits. But our mental and emotional well-being are just as important.

Caring for your mental health can look different for everyone. It may mean taking time to reflect, staying connected with people you trust, setting healthy boundaries, or reaching out for support when life feels overwhelming.

Prioritizing your mental health is part of caring for your overall well-being.

If you or someone you know needs support, CHRIS 180 is here to help. Learn more about our services: https://chris180.org/

Self-Care Sunday: Check In With Yourself

We spend a lot of time checking in on the people around us, but how often do we pause to check in with ourselves?

Take a moment today to ask:

• How am I feeling right now?
• What has been weighing on me?
• What do I need more of this week?
• Who can I reach out to if I need support?

Recognizing what we need is an important part of caring for our mental health.

At CHRIS 180, we believe everyone deserves support, connection, and a safe place to turn when life feels overwhelming.

CHRIS 180 was proud to join our Resilient Metro partners for a conversation with the six mayors of North Fulton County during the North Fulton Municipal Association’s monthly meeting.

Resilient communities are built through connection, collaboration, and a shared commitment to supporting children, youth, families, and the people who serve them. Through Resilient Metro, CHRIS 180 works alongside partners across healthcare, behavioral health, education, government, and community organizations to strengthen trauma-informed systems throughout Fulton and DeKalb counties.

We appreciated the opportunity to share more about this work with North Fulton’s leaders and discuss how stronger partnerships across sectors can help create healthier, more connected communities.

Thank you to the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce for bringing everyone together and creating space for these important conversations.

We’re looking forward to continuing the work across North Fulton and the greater metro Atlanta community.
