🔬✨ Science is better when you can get hands-on! Ms. Mitchell’s 5th graders are exploring the physical properties of matter by measuring mass and volume, testing magnetism and conductivity, and investigating relative density through sinking and floating.

Students are observing, testing, comparing, and using evidence to discover how different materials are alike and different. 🧪⚖️🧲⚡️💧

🏠 HOUSE MEETING DAY AT AES 🏠

Today’s House Meeting included a fun 🤝Handshake Challenge🤝 Students practiced an important life skill—learning how to confidently approach someone, make eye contact, introduce themselves, and greet them with a handshake.

It was a great way to build confidence, communication skills, and respect while having a little fun along the way! ❤️

🏈🐰 Friday Night Lights with our Rabbits! 🐰🏈

Our AES students were out in full force last Friday night supporting the Atlanta Rabbits! ❤️🤍

Our 5th graders had the exciting opportunity to participate in Run in the Rabbs, and we loved seeing some of our AES students on the sidelines cheering on the Rabbits! 📣

We love seeing our students show their Rabbit Pride and support our Rabbits under those Friday night lights! 🏈✨

🎨🐰 More than 450 students. One masterpiece.

During the first week of school, all 28 art classes at Atlanta Elementary School worked together to create a collaborative piece inspired by Vincent van Gogh, and the finished artwork is about much more than paint.

Students studied Van Gogh’s use of color and the direction of his brushstrokes before adding their own finger strokes to the piece. Along the way, they learned about planning, problem-solving, teamwork and what happens when everyone works toward the same goal.

One of the most meaningful lessons came from the layers of the painting. Some strokes are bold and easy to see, while others become part of the background, but every stroke helped create the finished piece. The same is true at AES. Not everyone is always in the spotlight, but every student plays an important role in making our school what it is. ❤️

With hundreds of little hands contributing, students created something in minutes that would have taken one artist much longer to accomplish.

Many hands make light — and beautiful — work! 🖌️✨

🏠🐰 The houses have spoken!

Last week was an exciting one at Atlanta Elementary School as our third graders and new students discovered which house they’ll call home during the AES House Sorting Event!

The excitement was contagious as students learned their houses and joined their new teammates for the first time. From cheers and celebrations to plenty of house colors and spirit, it was a fun way to welcome our newest members into the AES house family. ❤️

Now that everyone has been sorted, let the house pride—and a little friendly competition—begin! 🎉🏠
