Georgia Department of Education World Languages This is the page for World Languages at the Georgia Department of Education.

For our students to succeed in a global economy, they will need to possess a new set of skills that were not required for the success of prior generations of Americans. Regional expertise, cross-cultural competence, and advanced language proficiency are no longer skills reserved only for those who plan for a career overseas - they are skills that will enhance any career field, encourage internatio

nal investment to our state, and develop a workforce that is successful in working on diverse international teams to collaborate and solve global problems. Developing international perspective and advanced language proficiency, particularly as this relates to college and career readiness, will ensure our nation's security and will support our statewide and regional economic development goals. Business leaders across Georgia and the Southeast have made it clear that these skills are the fastest route to success in a global job market and that they provide a competitive advantage that moves an applicant's resume to the top of the pile.

In October 2022, teachers and staff from Seminole Middle High School in Seminole County, Georgia, FOS BOS Schönbrunn and the Georgia Department of Education as well as representatives from Georgia's European Office and the U.S. Consulate in Munich visited Amerikahaus.

We brought the two schools together for a virtual student exchange as part of "Green Together: Bavaria meets Georgia". Both schools put a special focus on the agricultural education of their students. A transatlantic exchange in this area is a unique opportunity to integrate a global perspective into a subject that often focuses only on local and regional practices.

Thank you for your visit, we look forward to support this unique student exchange.

"Green Together" is supported by the German-American Institute in Nuremberg and is part of "Going Green", a project by the U.S. Embassy in Berlin and Leuphana Universität. Click here for more information about "Green Together": https://www.amerikahaus.de/en/about-us/news/news-green-together
