Sometimes we have to brag on our own coordinators!
posted about Action Ministries coordinator, Denise Shackelford and we have to share.
“TROJAN UNSUNG HERO — Denise Shackelford works with Action Ministries and has since 2018. She is coordinator for the Smart Lunch Smart Kid Summer Program. Ms. Denise said she loves children — working with them and advocating for them. ‘I am not shy and never afraid to push the envelope in a positive way. ALWAYS work towards the good of your fellow man — and especially the babies who look to adults to do the right thing when it comes to their best interest.’We are thankful to have wonderful people in our community like Ms. Denise! THANK YOU!”

Help End Hunger for children this summer through Action Ministries Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program. Action Ministries Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program is as important now as it has been for the last 8 years. Hunger has always devastated Georgia’s most vulnerable communities, it has unfortunately been exasperated this year by the realities of school closures, job lay-offs and the much needed stay-at-home order. There are two ways you can maintain safe distancing and help us bring 7,000 smiles to 7,000 local kids this summer: Give and Serve.

Action Ministries is a regional leader in creating opportunities for passionate volunteers to serve together to end hunger, end homelessness, and close achievement gaps for families struggling with poverty.
Hunger Relief
Our hunger relief programs are uniquely tailored to the communities we serve. Action Ministries’ network of volunteers, food pantries, community kitchens, and childhood feeding programs improves access to fresh meat and produce, prepared meals and pantry foods in our local communities.
Housing
Action Ministries works to end each client relationship with the words, “Welcome Home.” The success of our programs is rooted in our commitment to under-standing homelessness in Georgia and the solutions available to end it. We focus on housing programs that provide long-term stability so families can stay together, veterans can find hope and children can sleep soundly.
Education
For those living or growing up in a state of poverty, education often serves as the bridge to which dreams can be put into action. Action Ministries’ afterschool, financial literacy, reading comprehension, and family success programs provide Georgia’s kids and their parents with access to educational resources designed to improve academic and family success.
Action Ministries strives to bring communities together to facilitate positive change in the lives of Georgia’s most fragile residents. Learn how you can serve at a local program site, volunteer center or We Serve community service event. Visit ActionMinistries.net/Volunteer
