GPCC’s vision is to eliminate prostate cancer deaths, with a mission focused on building awareness, providing education, and the prevention of the effects of advanced-stage prostate cancer. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded by representatives from various prostate cancer support groups in the Metro-Atlanta area. Our services include:
Awareness
We strive to save lives by promoting aw
areness of prostate cancer in Georgia - including the make up of the disease, importance of early detection, treatment options and survival. We sponsor events to provide prostate cancer awareness information to the general public. We provide speakers to community groups on the diagnosis, treatments and effects of prostate cancer. We provide assistance to those diagnosed with prostate cancer (and their families) to locate information sources and support groups that will help them to deal with their illness. We distribute information to the public to raise prostate cancer awareness and to encourage screenings of men at risk. To increase awareness throughout Georgia, the GPCC campaigned for a Prostate Cancer Awareness license plate, which the State of Georgia approved and issued. Each car having one acts as a mobile reminder to men to track their prostate health. More importantly, the state contributes a portion of the fee for each Georgia Prostate Cancer license plate to GPCC to support Prostate Cancer screening initiatives. Advocacy
We strive to be aware of legislative issues at the federal, state and local levels that will increase prostate cancer awareness and increase funding for screenings, treatments and research. We communicate with the prostate cancer community to encourage support of legislative activity that addresses our concerns. Information Exchange
We maintain a database of prostate cancer support groups in Georgia and of people interested in promoting our objectives.
