She graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors and received the distinguished Global Scholar designation. 🎓

Makenzie is passionate about music, international relations, travel, and cultural exchange. She enjoys discovering new cultures, meeting new people, and building meaningful connections across communities. 🎼✈️

Why the Consulate General of Atlanta?
“While I was in school, I always said that my dream job after graduation would be one where I could work in a French-speaking or francophone environment, whether in an international company or within the field of government relations. After completing an exchange program at Sciences Po Lille, I became increasingly interested in foreign affairs and international diplomacy and knew I wanted to pursue opportunities in that area.

When I saw the position with the Consulate General of Belgium in Atlanta on LinkedIn, I felt it was an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, further immerse myself in an international and multicultural environment, and continue using my French language skills. It also allowed me to remain closer to home while building a strong foundation in diplomacy and international relations”.

Bienvenue Makenzie! 🌟

Consul Jannes Dewulf had a wonderful time "traveling the world" at the Cobb International Festival, organized by Cobb County and Chairwoman Lisa Cupid. 🧳🌍

Thank you for inviting Belgium to this vibrant event and for bringing together our international community to celebrate its rich diversity. It was a pleasure to be present and to share in the festivities alongside so many cultures and traditions.

Fun fact: Cobb County is home to more than 200 international businesses representing over 30 nations. It is always inspiring to learn more about the global connections and cultural diversity that make Georgia such a dynamic state.

Consul General Katherine Raeymaekers had the pleasure of attending the Consulate General luncheon organized by The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center). It was a great opportunity to connect with the King Center to learn about their priorities and on how we could support them with their initiatives of advancing peace, justice, nonviolence, education, and global citizenship. 🌍☮️⚖️📚

Also this year, we look forward to supporting them during the Beloved Community International Expo taking place Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 11AM-5PM EST at The King Center. Make sure to come by the Belgian stand! 👋

Our friends at Global Atlanta organized Consular Conversation OTP (Outside of the Perimeter) this time in Gwinnett County! The Consul General did not only have the privilege to be a guest speaker, but more importantly, she was joined by several Belgian companies active in Gwinnet! And wow, it’s fantastic to see the work and impact of our Belgian footprint: Belgium is ranked 12th in terms of international businesses established in Gwinnett, which we would argue is not too bad for a county that is the size of Maryland! 🇧🇪

During the fireside chat several topics were addressed, ranging Belgium’s innovative assets in the heart of Europe to the Belgian growing footprint in Georgia. And with World Cup still fresh in everybody’s mind, the impact of sports as a key diplomatic enabler got also highlighted.

The insights and firsthand experiences from BARCO, CE+T and Aluvision, all Belgian companies established in Gwinnett county, completed an interesting overview of how doing business is mutually beneficial for Georgia and Belgium. A message also clearly echoed by UCB panelist, representing one of the largest recent Belgian investments in the USA, here in Rowen, Gwinnet county.

Thank you to , ,, and of course Global Atlanta for hosting us.

Every year, a determined group of Belgian students makes the journey across the Atlantic to take advantage of a unique opportunity: combining top-level athletic competition with pursuing a degree at an American university. Through the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Student Athlete system, talented Belgian students gain access to world-class training facilities, coaching, and academic programs. 🛬

⛳ Arthur Estas is one of these talented Belgian students. Currently a member of the men's golf team at the University of North Alabama, Arthur is pursuing a degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship with a minor in Economics while competing at a high level in collegiate golf. In this interview, he offers insight into the challenges and rewards of balancing demanding athletic commitments with academic responsibilities in the United States. 🏌️‍♂📖

Every year, more than one million people are identified as victims of human trafficking, and at least 1️⃣ in3️⃣victims is a child.

Human trafficking can affect anyone, adults and children, men and women, transgender individuals, and people of all nationalities and backgrounds. Any of us could become a victim or encounter someone who is being exploited.

Human trafficking takes many forms such as: Sexual exploitation, Labor exploitation, Forced criminal activity, Exploitation of begging, and Illegal organ removal.

💙 Belgium is committed to combating human trafficking through a comprehensive approach focused on protection, prevention, prosecution, and cooperation.

Awareness saves lives. By learning the warning signs of human trafficking, you may be able to recognize a victim and help connect them with support.

If you see something, say something. It's always better to report a concern that turns out to be nothing than to stay silent when someone may be in danger.

Successful Belgians in the Garden event! 🇧🇪🍻🌞🌳

Thanks to the great collaboration between our Consulate and the organizers, Bold Monk Brewing Company, it was wonderful to connect with so many people on the eve of Belgium’s National Day! ✨The guests did not only have a passion for Belgian-style beer but as it turns out also have a passion for and great knowledge about Belgium. It was fun to test everyone’s knowledge with the spin wheel and quiz! 💯

Many of the visitors whom we spoke to have travelled to Belgium, some more than once and without exception they all enjoyed their visit. We got to meet others who worked or still work for Belgian companies, some who have lived in Belgium for several years... 🌍🚄

🎟 The best part was definitely getting to giveaway roundtrip tickets to Brussels courtesy of Delta Air Lines to a lucky winner and guess what ?!? The winner has never traveled to Belgium before but desperately wants to go! How lucky ! She will get to experience all the lovely things Belgium has to offer. Congratulations we cannot wait to hear all about your trip. 💺✈️

A big thank you to for hosting us and for always putting together such fun events that highlight Belgium. 👏

Consul General Katherine Raeymaekers had the pleasure of visiting the Savannah College of Art and Design's Atlanta campus. As one of the world's leading art and design universities, SCAD is truly an epicenter of creativity, inspiring even those of us without creative genes! 🎨🎭🎬

The warm welcome by President and Founder Paula Wallace, together with Vice President Hannah Flower and University Ambassador Shawn Gourdie Sandor, provided an inspiring introduction to SCAD's unique educational environment and the interesting programs of SCADpro and SCADamp. Just two examples of how SCAD not only teaches students in a variety of creative sectors like fashion, film, product development, game design... but prepares them at the same time with hands on experience for the business opportunities these creative fields encompass. 📚

Combined with its outstanding facilities and industry-focused approach, SCAD prepares graduates to become leading creative professionals across many sectors. SCADpro could entail possibilities for connecting students with Belgian businesses to tackle real-world challenges. A powerful example of how any industry can benefit from creative professionals. 🌍

We were delighted to get a peek of the ‘Dior: Crafting Fashion’ exhibition, which among others features the work of Belgian designer Raf Simons.
With Belgium's strong tradition in fashion, design, and the creative industries, we look forward to building closer ties with SCAD and its international community of students and innovators. Thank you for having us! 🐝
