Erica Thomas has an extensive history of service and advocacy in Cobb County which will make her a powerful representative for District 39. As the Vice President of the Young Democrats of Cobb County and Legislative Aid for current representative, Alisha Morgan, Erica has consistently advocated for core legislation to better the lives of everyday Cobb County residents. Additionally, in May of 2013
, Erica received the Global Peace Foundation Award for starting “Speak Out Loud,” a non-profit organization that encourages foster children to use their voices in order to dismantle barriers that often quantify their inner-city experiences. Erica, a former foster child herself, is a proud resident of Cobb County and can often be seen along with her 3-year old daughter volunteering in the community. Her views on service: "I was placed into the foster care system at the age of 15. Moving between six different homes, I was abused, but did not allow this dark experience to dampen my ambitions nor quiet the song of service in my heart. I have worked through the pain and decided that I would save myself, by helping to save others."
