This Disability Pride Month, we’re honoring the ADA’s legacy while being honest that the work isn’t finished not while Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security (the programs so many disabled Americans depend on) are under direct threat.

This piece from The Blue Print features Leslie Templeton, Chair of the Young Democrats of America Disability Caucus, on what real accessibility looks like, the barriers disabled voters still face at the polls, and how allies can show up better. One line that stuck with us: “Disability is the one group any of us can join at any moment, no warning and no choosing.”

July 26, 1990 the ADA became law. Not a favor. Not charity. A civil rights law, fought for and won by disabled Georgians and disabled folks all over this country who refused to be shut out.

The Georgia Disability Caucus is carrying that fight forward every single day:

📣 Represent the community in every room where decisions get made
💚 Include disabled voices from the start, not as an afterthought
👊 Empower disabled leadership — at the ballot box and in office
