For emergencies call (404) 848-4911 or use MARTA PD See &S ay App. In 1977, the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (GPOST) certified the first officers of the MARTA Police Department. This was the 26 member beginning of the MARTA Police Department. Over the years as the MARTA rail lines expanded, so did the Police Department. As of today, there are over 300 sworn positions and cl

ose to 50 civilians. In the time since the MARTA’s Police Department began, we have implemented very successful patrol strategies which include bike and bus patrols. We will no longer have a posted officer on each train; instead, we will use both random uniform patrolling and plain clothes officers to address problems on trains and in the stations. These tactics will help focus on crimes of disorder (i.e. fare evasions, disorderly conduct, panhandling, smoking, etc.). We are always looking for better ways to protect and serve our customers and will continue to do so in the future. Our standards speak for themselves. In 1996, MARTA Police became nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). It was also one of the first agencies to earn Certification from the State of Georgia. The link below will give you access our Accreditation Public Comment Portal, which gives you the opportunity to share commends, commendations, and other information regarding out quality of service or other information relevant to the accreditation process: https://cimrs2.calea.org/145

This past Friday, the MARTA Police Department had the privilege of celebrating 19 new graduates as they officially completed the academy at the Fulton County Public Safety Training Center.

These graduates have shown dedication, discipline, and determination throughout their training journey, and we couldn’t be more proud to welcome them to our agency.

As they begin their careers in public safety, they now join the mission of serving and protecting our riders, employees, and communities each and every day.

Congratulations to the graduating class of BLE 26-01👮🏽💙

This National Police Week, we honor the brave men and women who serve and protect our communities every day. Your dedication, courage, sacrifice, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

We also take this time to honor one of our own. MARTA Police Officer Micah Corey Brown was killed in the line of duty on October 25, 2003. During this week of recognition, we remember his service, sacrifice, and legacy. His dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten.

Thank you to all officers who continue to answer the call and serve with pride each and every day. 💙🚔

Honoring the Voices Behind the Badge💛

Message from Chief Kreher, “Our police dispatchers, call takers and support staff in the Police Communications Center are vital to our success in fighting crime and ensuring public safety each day.  Behind the scenes most of the time, their professionalism and dedication to duty are unmatched.  Keeping our officers safe with pertinent information, receiving help calls from both citizens and our officers for assistance, and being that calm voice to manage the radio traffic when things go bad is why they are recognized this week.  I can’t say enough about their work and how they are appreciated by me and the entire MPD staff.  Thank you for being best-in-class!”

Happy National Public Safety Telecommunications Week!
