Today, I was honored to welcome Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives Jon Burns to the University of West Georgia to discuss the legacy and leadership of the late Speaker Tom Murphy.

As we celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary, I am proud to honor the memory of one of the greatest Georgians to ever come from our district: the longest-serving Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives in our state’s history, Tom Murphy.

Speaker Burns and I toured Speaker Murphy’s replica office preserved in the Ingram Library, and we had an insightful discussion with Speaker Murphy’s children, former aides, and legislators who previously served in the General Assembly with him.

Thank you to Jon Burns, the University of West Georgia, and the Murphy family for working with me to organize this historic event for our district!

I was honored to welcome my friend, the Ambassador of Hungary to the United States, Szabolcs Takács to Haralson County today.

In the late 1800s, dozens of Hungarian families moved from Pennsylvania's coal mines to Haralson County to establish a wine-making community. They named their village Budapest after the Hungarian capital, and planted vineyards across the surrounding hillsides. After Prohibition was enacted in the 1920s, many of the families left, and all that remains from that era is a home which once served as a Catholic rectory and the historic Budapest cemetery. Today, we visited both.

Ambassador Takács' visit is a special moment in Haralson County's rich history, and I am grateful for the incredible support the Haralson County Historical Society, the Hungarian Community Church of Georgia, the Dogwood Hills team, and local officials and community leaders provided to facilitate this meaningful event.

Thank you, Ambassador Takács, for visiting Georgia's 3rd Congressional District, and thank you for strengthening the relationship between Hungary and the United States of America!

Today, I was honored to welcome the United States Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins to Carroll County — the 9th visit to our district by a Member of President Trump’s Cabinet over the past two years.

Together, we met with agriculture leaders from across Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District and toured NG Turf’s incredible sod farm in Whitesburg.

Agriculture is Georgia’s #1 industry, and our Congressional District is a key producer of livestock, sod, and timber. I am proud to champion our hardworking farmers in Congress, and I was honored to cast a YES vote in favor of the Farm Bill earlier this year.

Thank you Secretary Rollins and Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper for visiting our District today!

I enjoyed visiting with Georgia’s foresters and industry leaders yesterday at the Georgia Forestry Association 2026 Annual Conference.

Georgia is the #1 exporter of forest products in our Country, and the industry employs 140,000 hardworking Georgians who contribute over $41 Billion to our state’s economy each year.

Our Congressional District is a key producer of timber, and I’m proud to work with my constituents to grow this industry, provide market certainty, and fight anticompetitive trade practices in other countries.

Today, we mourn the passing of United States Senator Lindsey Graham, a fierce advocate for the people of South Carolina. May his memory be a blessing to his family and friends.

Born in Upstate South Carolina, tragedy struck Lindsey early in his life. After he graduated from high school, Lindsey’s mother and father passed away within 15 months of each other, leaving him without parents and his 13-year-old sister orphaned. Lindsey shifted his focus to raising and caring for his sister, assuming a responsibility few can imagine at that age.

The resilience and sense of duty he developed during those difficult years would come to define a lifetime of service.

For 33 years, Lindsey served our Country in the United States Air Force. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service shortly before retiring as a Colonel.

For 31 years, Lindsey served in the United States Congress, and became one of the most influential lawmakers in our Country.

Lindsey’s unexpected passing also affirms a profound truth: every day we live is a gift and a blessing from God.

Today, I visited Atlanta Regional Airport to celebrate a $10 million investment in aviation safety from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Atlanta Regional Airport is one of the best airports for general aviation in the country, and I am proud to be its champion in Congress. Also known as Falcon Field, this airport has long been a catalyst for economic growth in my hometown of Peachtree City and this investment from our federal government will improve safety, optimize operational efficiency, and create jobs across Fayette County and Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District.

Thank you to Aviation Director Hope Macaluso and the entire Falcon Field team for working with me to deliver this investment in our community!

As kickoff awaits, Fayette County, Georgia is immensely proud to be the brand new home of U.S. Soccer, its National Training Center, and the talented staff who work tirelessly to grow the game and develop winning teams.

The Men’s National Team (USA Soccer Men's National Team) we’ll see play Belgium tonight, trained here — in Fayette County — in the days leading up to the FIFA World Cup.

The National Training Center extends across 200 acres and features 13 regulation size fields and a state-of-the-art indoor facility, which now serves as the home for all of U.S. Soccer’s 27 national teams.

Happy Independence Day to all!

Today, our country celebrates its 250th birthday, a triumphant achievement and a testament to God’s blessing upon us.

Across Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District, we will commemorate our semiquincentennial anniversary with parades, fireworks displays, and reflections on our Founding Fathers’ bravery.

May we, and future generations, celebrate and cherish this important day for another 250 years — and beyond!

On this day in 1944, over 34,000 American soldiers crowded together in small, amphibious boats en route to Omaha Beach.

As the boats landed on the beach, and their bow ramps dropped down leading the men ashore, unrelenting machine gun fire rained down from enemy bunkers.

Undeterred, the American and Allied forces emerged from the battle victorious, but not without a heavy cost.

Over 2,500 Americans died at Omaha Beach. One of them was 1st Lieutenant Thomas Royce Dallas Jr. from our Congressional District in Griffin, Georgia, who drew his last breath on the shores of Omaha Beach.

As we remember the heroism Americans exhibited on D-Day and we reflect on the cost of freedom, may we remember and be inspired by the names and faces of those brave soldiers who died in service to our Country.
