We’re excited to share some incredible news!

Rebuilding Together Atlanta has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta ! Their generous support will help us continue critical home repairs and revitalization efforts for neighbors in need across our city.

With this funding, we can expand our impact, helping more families remain safely in their homes and communities. This investment, in partnership with the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, is part of a broader effort to strengthen communities and ensure more Atlantans have access to safe, healthy, and accessible housing.

🏡 Housing security is healthcare. Especially for those who served.

We are incredibly proud to highlight a recent project with Lockheed Martin, part of a national partnership with Rebuilding Together that delivers critical, no-cost home repairs and accessibility modifications to veterans and their families.

To see the real-world impact of this partnership, Lockheed Martin's volunteers worked alongside RTA on April 24th, at the home of U.S. Army veteran, Samantha.

Samantha enlisted just 19 days after 9/11, serving as a Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Warfare Specialist, and deploying to Iraq in 2003. When she returned home, she faced new battles that eventually led to homelessness.

But Samantha’s story is one of ultimate resilience. In 2017, she reclaimed her life. Today, she is a certified peer specialist helping fellow veterans navigate mental health and addiction, and she recently founded her own nonprofit to support female veterans. She is also the primary caregiver in a multigenerational household, including her three daughters and family members living with disabilities.

Despite her incredible strength, her home required critical structural, plumbing, and safety repairs.

Thanks to an incredible team of volunteers and contractors, we tackled a massive scope of work to ensure Samantha's home remains a safe, permanent foundation:

🔹 Interior & Safety: Full plumbing and basement sink restoration, bathroom grab bar installation, new flooring prep, and ceiling repairs.

🔹 Exterior: Front step and entryway repairs, handrail staining, fence work, and a brand-new garden area for Samantha and her kids.

As Samantha beautifully put it: "The repairs will allow us to live safely, comfortably, and healthy in our home—and allow me to provide safe and stable housing for my daughters."

Since 2022 in the Atlanta region alone, Lockheed Martin has invested over $120,000, eliminated 38 home hazards, and mobilized employees for 900+ volunteer hours.

Investing in a veteran’s home isn't just about structural fixes. It is an investment in leaders who continue to give back to our communities every single day.

Thank you, Lockheed Martin, for your unwavering commitment to those who served.

"Thank you for changing my life." 🏡✨

Those are the words of Ms. Crawford, a 65-year-old Atlanta native, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a retired 30-year veteran of Emory University’s Environmental Services.

Ms. Crawford has called her SE Atlanta house in the Glenrose Park neighborhood "home" for over 30 years. It’s where she raised her children and where she holds the memories of her mother and son.

After years of hard work, severe arthritis in her knees and hips forced Ms. Crawford into early disability. Living on a fixed income, keeping up with essential home repairs became impossible. Her aging windows and doors became drafty, inefficient, and physically unsafe for someone with limited mobility to operate.

That is why Rebuilding Together Atlanta was thrilled to partner once again with Renewal by Andersen to help this legacy homeowner age in place with dignity, safety, and independence.

🛠️ Through their incredible Renewal Cares program, the Renewal by Andersen team isn't just funding this project; they are rolling up their sleeves. During this Day of Service, volunteers worked on completing exterior landscaping, painting, and critical safety upgrades.

Private-public partnerships like this are the backbone of our mission to ensure safe and healthy homes across Atlanta. We are so grateful to partner with Renewal by Andersen, again, to transform lives.

"I just can’t afford to do the things that my house needs," says Ms. Crawford. "I understand the power of volunteers to change lives. Thank you for changing mine."

Thank you to every volunteer on-site for restoring peace of mind to a true pillar of our community! 💙

🛠️ On April 29th, Rebuilding Together-Atlanta was incredibly proud to partner with a passionate team of volunteers from UKG to deliver critical health and safety repairs for a vital veteran-serving facility: VFW Rainbow Post 2681 in Marietta (Cobb County).

For years, Post 2681 has been a massive community anchor. Originally a skating rink converted into a VFW hall, this multi-purpose facility now serves over 25,000 individuals annually (including 10,000+ veterans). From hosting VA monthly health clinics and a robust food pantry to serving as a hub for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and school supply drives, this space is a literal lifeline.

However, the pandemic severely impacted operations, leaving this aging facility in desperate need of upkeep and modernization to keep up with growing demands.

🤝 A Partnership Built on Impact

This project wouldn't be possible without UKG, a company that walks the walk when it comes to social responsibility. Over the past 6 years, UKG has been a leader in housing security and community care, investing more than $200,000 to improve the health and safety of homes and facilities across the Atlanta metropolitan area.

UKG volunteers are rolled up their sleeves to ensure Post 2681 remains a safe, functional, and welcoming pillar of hope for generations to come.

A massive thank you to every UKG volunteer on-site today. Because of your hard work, 5 community-based veteran organizations will continue to have a safe space to serve those who served our nation.

From Desolate Lot to Thriving Oasis: Cultivating Change in Adamsville 🌱

In 2023, the site adjacent to the Adamsville Senior Recreation Center was an abandoned, overgrown school lot. Today, it is the Adamsville Fain Community Garden (AFG)—a vibrant symbol of resilience, health, and neighborly camaraderie.

As a known food desert, the Adamsville community faced significant hurdles in accessing fresh produce. Through a powerful partnership between Rebuilding Together Atlanta (RTA), Totalis (and its subsidiaries BlueSky Risk/Quadscore), and local leaders, we’ve turned that challenge into an opportunity for growth.

🌻 More Than Just Food

The AFG isn't just about fruits and vegetables; it’s about growing community:

Access - Providing thousands of residents with fresh, organic produce.

Education - Serving as a hands-on urban agriculture lab for the nearby STEAM Academy and hosting annual summer camps.

Connection - A gathering place where "Soil Sisters and Brothers" are born, and strangers become family over shared harvests.

Dignity - Local seniors walk to the gardens weekly to harvest their own food, fostering independence and health.

🏗️ The Power of Partnership

Since 2022, Totalis and its team have been instrumental in this movement.

Their commitment goes beyond financial support:

600+ hours of volunteer service.

$20,000 in labor value.

$40,000 in direct project funding.

43 garden beds built to revitalize the neighborhood and support our holistic mission of safe, healthy, and thriving communities.

💚 A Heartfelt Thank You

To the volunteers who joined us: Thank you. Your sweat equity is transforming this land into a source of hope and dignity.

We aren't stopping here. With plans to expand capacity and distribution, the Adamsville Garden Coalition is proving that when we cultivate the land together, we grow a stronger future for all of Atlanta.

80 years old. 6 years of Army service. 57 years in the same home. 🎖️

Mr. Lawrence served six years in the U.S. Army, including four years in Vietnam. He returned home in 1969 to the same house he lives in today. But as the decades passed, the repairs began to outpace his resources.

Maintaining a 78-year-old home on a fixed income became an impossible battle. From a failing roof to safety hazards, the place that held his family together was falling apart.

We are proud to share that thanks to the incredible volunteers and our skilled contractors, Mr. Lawrences' home has been restored. By installing a new roof, safety measures in the bathroom, and restoring the yard, we are helping restore dignity for a man who sacrificed so much for our country.

To Mr. Lawrence: Thank you for your service. It is an honor to ensure your home stands as strong as your resilience.

🛠️ Serving Those Who Served: A Day of Impact in Southwest Atlanta

Friday, March 27th was about more than just hammers and nails—it was about honoring the veterans who once stood for our country by ensuring they can now stand safely in their homes and community spaces.

We were incredibly proud to partner with The Home Depot Foundation and the volunteers of Team Depot to revitalize the Adamsville community. Our joint mission? To replace risk with security and ensure our local heroes can age in place with the dignity they deserve.

📍 Project Highlights:
American Legion Post 291: We’re transforming this veteran anchor with ADA-compliant bathroom upgrades, solar pathway lighting, and critical safety repairs to combat isolation and strengthen veteran connections.

Ms. Tinita’s Home: Restoring pride and safety for a dedicated veteran by installing life-saving alarms, improving ventilation, and preserving a multigenerational family home.

Mr. David’s Home: Increasing independence through continuous handrails, deck repairs, and enhanced lighting to ensure he can age safely in the community he loves.

By the Numbers:
3 Transformative sites
70 Passionate volunteers
1 Shared mission: To honor and uplift our veterans.

A massive thank you to Team Depot for your tireless energy and commitment to community revitalization. Together, we’re preserving legacies and ensuring these spaces remain pillars of hope for generations to come.

🏠 2025 Community Impact: Rebuilding Together Atlanta

We are incredibly proud to share the results of our 2025 Community Impact Report. Last year was about more than just repairs; it was about preserving homes, supporting our veterans, and strengthening the fabric of Atlanta’s neighborhoods.

Through the hard work of our team and partners, we’ve achieved some remarkable milestones:

Financial Investment: Over $650,000 invested directly back into community neighborhoods.

Total Reach: Completed 79 projects serving 44 unique homes, 3 community gardens, and 2 veteran facilities.

Safety First: Eliminated 271 home health and safety hazards, including critical mold removal and structural repairs.

Volunteer Power: 616 volunteers dedicated over 3,145 hours, contributing a service value of over $101,000.

Our mission remains focused on those who need it most. These repairs aren't just "home improvements"—they are life-changing interventions that allow our neighbors to live in dignity and safety.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, donors, and the Atlanta community for making this possible. Let’s keep building a safer, healthier Atlanta together. 🛠️✨
