You might have noticed our bicycle lane protection has evolved over the years. Each project has taught us lessons about where and when to use each. This year, we're testing out poured in place concrete buffers along 10th Street and soon West Marietta Street.

Spring showed up, and the Upper Westside is ready for it.

Longer days make it easier to take your time. Grab a coffee at BRASH Coffee, wander through Westside Provisions District, or spend an afternoon exploring The Interlock and Star Metals Atlanta. Everything is a little more enjoyable when the weather cooperates.

It’s the kind of season that makes “just stopping by” turn into staying a while.

Do you recognize this corner?

Before it became Brady Pocket Park, this spot looked a little different. Today, it’s a small but meaningful place to pause, with shade, seating, planting, signage, and a more welcoming edge for neighbors, visitors, and four-legged friends moving through the Upper Westside.

It’s a reminder that progress does not always have to be big to make a difference. Sometimes, it looks like turning an overlooked corner into a place people can actually stop and enjoy.

What used to be a fast cut-through is now a safer place to move through.

Collier & Emery has been redesigned with people in mind. Slip lanes are gone. Crosswalks are in. Sidewalks now connect where they didn’t before. It’s a small intersection, but a big shift in how this area works day to day.

Safer crossings
Better visibility
Accessible paths for more people

This is what it looks like when streets are designed for everyone, not just cars.
The Howell Mill Complete Street project will bring a traffic signal to this intersection to create a safe pedestrian crossing to Publix.
