🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

The Atlantic Beach Police Department has recently received reports from local residents about an increase in scam phone calls.

In one scam, callers are claiming to be with the U.S. Marshals Service and telling residents they must send as much as $20,000 or a warrant will be issued for their arrest.

Other residents have reported receiving calls from someone identifying himself as “Officer Dan Parker” with the Atlantic Beach Police Department, claiming there is an urgent matter requiring their immediate attention.

Please remember: Law enforcement agencies will NOT call you and demand money to avoid an arrest warrant, resolve a missed court appearance, or pay bail.

If you receive a call like this:

Hang up immediately.
Do not send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or any other form of payment.
Do not provide credit card, banking, Social Security, or other personal information.
If you are unsure whether the call was legitimate, contact the law enforcement agency directly using a phone number you know is valid.

For the Atlantic Beach Police Department, call 904-247-5859 and ask us to verify whether there is any validity to the call.

Scammers often create a sense of urgency, fear, or pressure in an attempt to keep you from stopping to verify what they are telling you. You will never get in trouble for hanging up and calling us directly to make sure a call is legitimate.

Please talk with family members, friends, and especially anyone who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.

Don’t be a victim. When in doubt, hang up and verify.

🚔 DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER 🚔
If you need a reminder of why impaired driving enforcement matters, take another look at what happened in Atlantic Beach just a few days ago.

An impaired driver crashed into two of our police vehicles, causing significant damage. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt and damaged vehicles can be replaced. Lives can't.

Beginning August 19 and continuing through Labor Day, our officers will join law enforcement agencies across the country for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, with an increased focus on identifying and removing impaired drivers from our roadways.

If your Labor Day plans include alcohol, make your plan to get home before you start drinking:
🔹 Designate a sober driver
🔹 Use a rideshare or taxi
🔹 Call a friend or family member
🔹 Stay where you are if you don't have a safe ride
There is never a good excuse to drive impaired.
Plan ahead. Get a sober ride. Help us keep everyone safe.
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.

WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING…. Last night around 11:30 PM on Atlantic Boulevard a drunk driver crashed into an ABPD marked police car conducting a traffic stop. This caused a chain reaction, hitting a second police car and the stopped vehicle. Miraculously, no one was hurt or transported, and the driver was arrested for DUI by NBPD. This serves as a reminder…. *Pay attention! *Move over /slow down when you see emergency lights on the roadside. *Designate a sober driver! Drinking and driving, puts innocent lives and motorists in extreme danger.

Life can change in an instant, we are so grateful that our officers and the other motorists did not suffer any major injuries from this crash. The cars on the other hand……. That’s another story 👮🏾😳😱😰

🚔 Traffic Tip Tuesday 🚔
Teen Drivers: Freedom Comes with Responsibility.
Getting your driver's license is an exciting milestone, but it also comes with important responsibilities.
👨‍👩‍👧 Parents: Continue helping us educate your teen about safe driving habits and the rules that come with a learner's permit or driver's license. Your guidance behind the wheel makes a lasting impact.
Teens: Take a moment to read the back of your Florida driver's license. It outlines important restrictions, including passenger limits and nighttime driving (curfew) restrictions.
Remember:
🚫 Driving during restricted hours without meeting an exception may result in a traffic citation.
🍺 If you're under 21, Florida has a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol. Driving after consuming alcohol can lead to serious legal consequences, including the suspension of your driving privileges.
Safe choices today help build safe drivers for life.
